I personally ,dont ever buy color rims or chrome.straight polished.otherwise.something happens and its an arm and leg to fix them.besides, polish lips bling.for 800 you probably could of sold your rims threw the 800 on top your sale.BAM.new wheels....my two cents
Im keeping them the same color, and i would agree to sell them and all but i waited 3 and half months for these to come, the other option wqas some nice SSR's, ill stick with them for now. i called up the rim shop and asked how is it going, and they said they might be done Monday, they said they spend hours making sure they are 100% perfect and that they want to take their time, and i said no problem of course as long as they are done right. I learned my lesson on wheel period! hopefully this thread helps others!

Sweet!! That's good to hear you found a solution. It would have almost hurt to see such a beautiful finish powder coated.

Btw do you have the full IPL kit? I can tell by the F and R bumpers but I wasn't sure about the skirts

I found some pics of my damaged finish. These are the barrels. The step lips are also damaged but not as bad as the inside.

Man those are worse than mine , what did they use?!?! at least i had spots, but the guy cleaned my car before using the same stuff he said, he would use it clean, dry, and even use a vacuum to suck the remaining water, but my wheel design allows for water to hold in between the spokes and the barrel, and with it sitting out side the started to drain down to one spot, but the shop is also doing the inside barrels for me , $200 per wheel is a lot but these are not your average wheels. freaking pricey wheels!!

They used some kind of degreaser on them. The owner had his workers hand polish them and they came out okay but knowing that the original finish has been damaged really irks me.

I found some 3000 grit sand paper at autozone it's actually a sponge with grit. I used that just before polishing with mothers. I would give that a try on your lips then polish. You definatly cant hurt it anymore than it is with such a fine grit.

UNLESS YOU HAVE A CLEAR COAT ON THEM. then it won't work.

I can't do that. I have a brushed finish to it

Probably not. Just means you have to give them a quick polish once every month or so. Depending on weather situations.

I stripped the clear coat off of my wheels. But my lip doesn't have the spoke covering it either.

If it had a clear coat on the inside barrell the acid or whatever the used ate through it. The step lip has stains on them but not that shade of blue like the barrells.
