It is a 3 season tire to me. It completely sucks in the winter! I don't get what you're not getting... I took off my winters to put my touring tires/stock wheels on. I'm happy enough with that setup.

 

Driving AS tires in the summer only does not make them summer-only tires.

3 season tires doesn't mean summer tires. MXV4s are crap in the winter (actually crap overall), therefore, they are only good for three seasons out of the year, get it?

 

"3-season" and "summer-only" are synonymous terms for high-performance tires that can't be used during freezing months or on snow & ice. Whereas "All-season" means exactly that, intended for all seasons of the year. And while these MXV4 tires may be crap in the winter, they are clearly designed for freezing temps and "light snow".

In other words, the MXV4 is not a 3-season tire. Do you get it? (Please say yes, LOL)

 

I think ALL Season tires are mislabeled and should be known as 3 Season tires. If you live in an area without significant snow an all season tire might be OK. Around here folks need winter tires or they really shouldn't be on the road when snow is falling. An All Season tire without a "snowflake" emblem on the sidewall is really not a winter tire and therefore not an all season tire at all - it is a 3 season tire. Calling them All Season sends the message they will work in the snow and ice and buyers and drivers expect them to work, but they don't. Anyone agree with me that the term All Season should be dropped in favor of 3 Season?

While I understand the point you're trying to make, the reality is that the tire industry, and anyone who wants to sound credible discussing tires uses "3 seasons" as a synonym for summer tires. The manufacturers description, about light snow use supports your argument that they arent for use in deep snow, it doesn't mean they cant be. Summer/3 season tires specifically warn against use in snow and ice.

You fall victim to your own logic though, if snow tires are better than all seasons in the snow, and summer tires are better in dry and wet conditions than all seasons, why send a message that all seasons work in dry/wet above freezing temperatures when they don't--relative to 3 season/summer tires?
