I live in Toronto (snow snow snow----when will spring really arrive) and need to purchase all season tires. What tires would you recommend I purchase. I know there are some incentives out there for tires ..but just want to know what people recommend.

I want something that can handle snow and are not crazy expensive.

I have Potenza's and like them. Our cars are not conducive to cheap tires.

 

I live in ontario as well, I mounted bridgestone blizzaks on the stock wheels, and bought a set of wheels and tires for summer. The blizzaks work awesome in the snow and ice.... they got a workout this winter.

 

All seasons = no seasons.

Dedicated winters are definitely recommend here in Toronto. I run michelin x-ice 3's in the winter and hankook ventus v12 in the summer.

 

You need summers or all seasons for summer and winters for winter. X or not, all seasons won't get you stopped. Their is no comparison. All seasons don't work in snow period.

This is statement is a good example of a red herring. All season tires are fine in the snow as long as you drive cautiously, which you should be anyways. Sure the stopping distance will be lengthened in inclement weather, but that doesn't mean it's not safe or they "don't work".

Adhering to your logic means: A Civic has a greater stopping distance than a Gallardo in dry weather, therefore the Civic is unsafe or irresponsible to drive.

Let's be modest, we all made sacrifices in winter safety by choosing a G37 of any configuration as a daily driver.
