About 1,000 miles on new Nitto Motivo tires on 2012 Journey sedan. Moved up to 245/50/17, Z rated, 60K tread life on OEM wheels- WOW what a difference vs the RSA's- First thing I noticed right away is I did not need to give the G gas to get to a stop sign!!! The RSA's where like a boat anchor. The Motivos just roll effortlessly. The ride is outstanding, very quiet, smooth and road imperfections and expansion joints are almost non existent. The G now looks outstanding, aggressive and the cornering is tremendous. Large freeway curved ramps at 65 are effortless. Great dry traction, tires track straight on freeway, no rain in Texas yet to rate. The G is now planted firmly on the road and I could not be happier with the ride quality. Got an outstanding sale price of $125 at Discount Tire. Even if they don't last to 60K, prorated price will be easy to take. More notes as my mileage increases. I have these on a Maxima with over 5K and same results!!!!

 

Sweet! I just ordered these yesterday and will have them installed on Tuesday to replace the stock Dunlops. My 18s were 150/pop though!

 

What size did you go with? Mine are 10.35 inches vs 9.2 inches wide compared to the RSA's- widest I could put on the 7.5 inch OEM rims and closest to the overall diameter.

 

The stock size 18's- 225/50/18.

 

Good luck with the motivos today- I think you are going to wish you had gone wider!! You will love the ride- I have been running mine at 34 psi

 

Doh! Can't get mine installed today. Nanny's car is in the shop so she took our QX and my wife took the G. I was left.....riding the bike to work. We're going to the beach house for 2 weeks tom AM so my tires will wait until I return.

What's the advantage to wider tires?

 

First of all stance & performance- the G has 330 hp and with the beef on the wheels, it looks like it should. A much more aggressive look, more rubber on the road, better handling, dry and wet. I am not a fan of the staggered fitments, for numerous reasons, mainly tire longevity with the ability to rotate all 4. This is my dd. Take a look at BMW 535 and 550 series with 245's for example, the car looks planted and ready to perform. I bought the G for numerous reasons, mainly was bang for the buck. I have been buying quality Japanese cars for over 30 years. Got an awesome car and with $20K to $30K to spend elsewhere!!! I should have bought the new tires sooner, my RSA's were a joke. Infiniti should be embarrassed to put them on the G- I bought the G for what it brings to the driving experience, and the wider tires just add to the experience, performance and a joy to drive. I hope my rant helps

On the Motivos?
Sorry to hear that, i've got over 6K on my other car, a Maxima, and they look like I put them on yesterday. Stock 215/55/17.

 

Wider is not always better though from a performance standpoint. If you live in an area that has a lot of loose (powdery) snow or slush, narrower tires are better.

Do wider tires look better? Sure, but that doesn't mean they are always better.

 

My apologies!! Driving in Houston, a Texas state of mind, the roads are 130 degrees and when and if it rains it comes down in inches per hour!!! No worries about cold or snow, maybe some winter weather every 5 years or so. So that is why I gave my opinion on wider tires for a hot, wet Southern climate. I drove over 125 Interstate miles today and the Motivos are unbelievably quiet and what a great ride. Went through some heavy downpours and the tires never lost their grip. On dry pavement going 77 to 80 mph does not even feel like you are moving. Extremely pleased with my purchase now on two cars.

Last Saturday put 425 miles on the Nittos on hot and sometimes wet Texas highways- simply awesome- great ride and handling, got 26 mpg going about 78. G just tracks straight with these tires.

 

First rotation last Saturday, 5500 miles. Like new, 10/32nds on all 4 in Texas heat!!!! Not one complaint and 100 pros. Sweet ride with the Motivos.

 

I'm happy with mine as well. Under 2K on them so far and no issues at all.
