Sorry for your loss! We all know that it's just "material" losses however we also must remember that we work bloody hard with sweat and tears paying for our cars and when this sort of thing happens we feel violated like our space has been invaded. That being said that are a number of things one can do as a deterrent such as wheel locks, which are a must-have. and steering wheel locks to prevent car theft. Ebay and Kijiji are great sites to purchase wheels and tires especially OEM wheels. However if you want you can also get wheel and tire packages for about $2k which include Braelin concaves which are very similar to Vossens (and in fact manufactured at the same Chinese factory too BTW) and cost half as much! Also I would recommend that you buy staggered. 8.5s are perfect for the fronts...with a wheels diameter of 19". I personally believe that 20" is too harsh a ride because you need to keep a certain diameter and ratio for your odometer and speedometer. Next go with 9s or 9.5 for the rear. Don't overdo it for the fronts. You can get away with 40 or 45 front profile with 225 or 245....The rears can be 40 - 45 with a 245, 255, 275, 285 ....you don't need more than that...and you can lower your car with Tanabe Sustecs Pro NF 210s depending if you have a Coupe or an Coupe X(S). BTW - What type of G and year was yours? I hope this helps! Also all those wheels and tire combos should be well within your budget. You can also negotiate with your insurance adjuster. Tell him that that you don't need them to cut you a check for the full amount. Just go do your homework with the info that I helped you with here, then get them to pay for it...It may end up saving you a lot of insurance $$$. Also EBAY has vendors that sell new wheel and tire packages....However the shipping costs are expensive these days so also ask around for a local company that does this....you may be surprised! My other advice ....is to not call and claim insurance cause they may increase their rate to you in the coming years. It may be too late this time but you live and learn. Come to our forum first and get advice before you do anything next time. Good Luck!

If I'm getting 7K for wheels I just might have to put the car on the street and post my address while I'm on vacation. Do that 2 per yr and I'm set. I could bump myself up to a new tax braket without the taxes. LOL

What the hell accounts for the extra $4-5k???

Here in Toronto, the rims are about $1600 a piece from the dealership.
I know...lol

a lot of people do this type of "insurance fraud" to get the money... I mean, how is the insurance company is gonna prove that it was legitimate stolen or not..?

Wow I live in South FLA and crime here is actually worse than the news reports but I have yet have my wheels stolen. Had a motorcycle and car stolen but no wheels yet. Maybe it's because I have always had locks.

I cant stand a thief! Sorry about your luck OP! Hope all works out!

Not sure about the 7K cost but I have had all 4 of my factory wheels replaced by insurance do to a accident and it was over 4K just for stock rims. Might as well get some Aftermarkets and save some dough. GL

Like any theft deterrent, they will not stop someone who is really determined to get your wheels.

Thieves are for the most part lazy so the idea is to make it hard on the scumbag so he will go steal someone else's wheels...

Hey man. My 2008 was hit twice (once actually they got the wheels, once the cops caught them in action) then on my 12 they tried to steal them and got stuck on the wheel locks....sooooo they smashed the window to search for my lock key and stole my ipods and a $20 pair of earbuds I used at the gym for the last year (enjoy my earwax). Get the locks.. Hide the lock key somewhere in the car that they can not get to and NEVER TELL A SOUL.. I am actually running two different styles of wheels locks on each wheel now with both keys hidden. They can bypass the locks, but it takes alot of time, effort, and noise.. good deturent.
