x coupe...best spacer size for maximum grip and performance.

I am still running my stock 18s on my '12 X Coupe but want to move the wheels out a bit to maximize my stance and grip.
What spacers size are performance best?.

Question 2. If I upgrade to 19x9.5s what spacer and or offset combo gives me best?

I am not lowered yet. But want to instal the eibach pro kit springs.

Spacers are good for widening your stance, not necessarily giving you better grip. That would mostly rely on the type of tire your running.

If you want my honest opinion, don't get spacers to push out your 18s. Save for a new set of wheels and tires. You will have a better range of options with wheel height, width, offset and of course styles to choose from.

Feel free to PM me with any other questions, I was in your shoes not to long ago.

NYC, thats a good reply.
Lets say I am determined to get 19x9.5s

What offset for front and back allows for a bbk and a wide stance?

I'm about to go 18x9.5 all around for a track set up. I'll be going +30 square and is should have a slight tuck but be pretty good. Pictures will be posted when wheels arrive.

As for spacers with stocks, I ran 25mm rear spacers and 20mm front, dropped on Eibachs with the stock 18x8 wheels and it was pretty flush.

The offset is based upon wheels. Different style of wheels can clear and others cannot. On my 20x9 I have +38 square (clears Akebono BBK) where as stock is +43 or +45 square. I have been assured before ordering that the +30 will clear. Time will tell when they ship.

Offsets are for sure a pain in the ace. But they basically decide on how flush/tucked/or extended your wheel/tire set up will be. There are some great calculators out there to estimate how offset will effect a current set-up. These are good tools to get a solid starting point.

Pretty much higher the offset the more sunk the wheel will be. The lower the offset the more it'll stick out from the hub. Of course things like width of the wheels, and tires play a role as well. You have to decide what type of setup you want, look at other peoples setup that you like and see what offset/widths they're running so you can run similar setup.

If you upgrade to 19x9.5 wheels make sure you find out how you want it to sit, check out other people with 19x9.5 setup see what offset/tires they're running to get the offset you want. The main point of aftermarket wheels is to prevent you from having to run spacers when you get the correct offset.

This is about the best tire resource I've found w/ some specific calculators you won't find anywhere else, gives a good description for almost any tire topic

Awesome stuff guys. Thanks. But initially it seems like a shot in the dark if you are ordering wheels online and have never test fit anything...

There is a bit of mystery as far as the wheel design, backspacing and offset all tie together but with the calculators you can get accurate measurements of how they will fit in the fenders. Nothing is as good as having the actual product on hand but you can get there w/ enough calculations (as long as the specs are accurate). As far as brake clearance, if the vendor will take the time to apply the template (for an in-stock wheel) that's always a bonus, and IMO it would be good for their business
