Wheels for g37x sedan

So i've been looking for some wheels and found some for very low prices but never heard of these brands so will they be any good?

Cheap wheels are everywhere, this is one area where you really want to take your time. You can often find high quality wheels in the private classified section for similar prices to new low quality wheels.

Will these cheap quality wheels be worse than the stock wheels. I'm fine even if they are of the same quality.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I've had my fair share of reps, and I'll tell you, they're hit or miss. I've had a few good BBS reps and out of all of them, I had an issue with one set. Two of the wheels broke at the spokes.

Why don't you link some things you are looking for and we can help you out.

FWIW, take Brad's advice and look around for a quality set of wheels in the classifieds/craigslist/nissan forums etc. Really, you're looking for something 5x114.3 - there are TONS of used options out there.

Always a good place to look is the "Other Bolt Pattern Classifieds" section of VWvortex.com

I know I should get better wheels but I just spent over 2k a few days ago on exhausts and a front lip, so there is no way I will get anymore money now. So I was thinking since those wheels were around $500 so I'll just trade-in my stock wheels for ~400 and can get them for a 100 bucks since I'm pretty sure my current tires would fit those. So what would be better getting my stock rims painted or investing in these? See Wheels on Your Vehicle - Discount Tire

I'd just hold off on wheels until you can get some that are at least as good as your stock wheels. The stock 17" Enkeis aren't the best looking wheels but they're of good quality. Unless you just can't drive that new G w/ the stock wheels I'd just hang on and look around in the used classifieds. If you're wanting cheap 17" rims I doubt they'll improve the look of your G. You can find some nice coupe 19" rims around here in the $800 range and they're good quality & nice looking on the sedan. Just food for thought.

^^^ This. Brad helped me a lot as well. I have a staggered set of coupe 19s on the way from powder coat. Its gonna be a great set of wheels and they're light and make the sedan have a sporty OEM look. Just my .02 man. I got lucky and found a guy with a set for $600 and I talked him down $100...because they were orange. Lol.

Razor, you have a brand new 2013 G37x, and you're talking about $100 considerations in a wheel swap scenario. Just laying that out there for you to read objectively.

That's messed up, man. Snap out of it.

17" Journey rims? Don't paint them. Ugh. Troll the FS forums for an opportunity, or first decide on the exact wheel you want, then hit up one of those sites that aggregate Craigslists across the nation. But if you're plan is to shave $100 here and there, then what you really need is patience. Lots and lots of patience.

Here's an idea: get a set of 17" Forgestar F14's. Very inexpensive, redonkulously lightweight, and damn attractive, too.

Personally, I think 17" is too small on this car, but if your wanting to swap tires, then it is what it is.

[edit] Whoops... they don't come in width narrow enough to swap your OEM tires. Oh well, still nice wheels.

OP, you might want to check www.tirerack.com they usually have a decent selection of Enkeis and some other better brands that might be in budget in a 17" size. The selection offered at Discount Tire is pretty poor, there's a couple TSW wheels like the Mallory & Interlagos that are nice though.

You can find comments about cracks in the F14 on the net, that's true. But I suspect if we had access to the statistics, it might be more normal to the industry than an exception. I'm assuming the F14 is manufactured in pretty high numbers, because it's all over the place.

That's the long and qualified answer. The short answer is

^ perhaps it is. Research pays off. You see a nice wheel and don't think often think of the manufacturing process. There are many similar types and when it comes down to preference you shouldn't have to be concerned about these issues.

I'm always checking craigslist for good deals on wheels (lol rhymes). Like everyone is saying, it's important to do your research before buying wheels. Even high-end companies have issues with some of their wheels.
