Bought GTR wheels. Now what?

I finally lowered my G37 sedan on Stance SS coilovers last week. A few days ago I picked up a set of 20" Nissan GTR wheels (no tires). They look great, but they have a few nicks and one wheel some rash all around. Since the wheels color is a dark gunmetal, they're almost a direct match to my sedan which is Graphite Shadow (dark silver). I'm not sure I like the match, plus there's something about gunmetal wheels that just make them appear to be dirty. I like the OEM silver that the factory wheels come in, so I'm toying with the idea of getting them painted (trying to stay away from powdercoating). I want there to be SOME contrast, so that's why I'm leaning toward the light silver wheel color.

The mobile wheel repair company that my local Infiniti dealership works with quoted me $45 per wheel to fix the rash, and $75 for rash and color change per wheels. The guy would come to me, and he seems pretty reputable since he works on the dealer's cars.

Another local shop quoted me $250-$300 for the whole set. They would fix all rash, sandblast, prime, paint, and clear. I like this a bit better because it's an actual shop and not someone working out of their van.

Or the last option would be to just mount them as is, but that might cost me more in the long run if I change my mind on the rash and color change, and then I'll have to pay to get the tires remounted.

I'll post pics later on.

I also have an extra rear wheel (20x10.5) in case someone is interested in it.

Dude....GTR wheels require some seriously aggressive fitment, especially on the sedan. You'll probably still poke out. Most people manage to make them fit, but I think they're only using a set of four front wheels. I haven't tried personally, but I've seen a few people attempt the fitment and it seems like a lot of work for them. Brad will get this straightened out one way or another.

Good luck!

I'm very familiar with fitment. I used to run negative offsets on my G35 coupe.

I've done quite a bit of research on these wheels, and I merely need to run about -2.5 camber and a 245/35/20 stretch tires in the rear to make these work. I even know someone that is running all four rears with no problems at all.

If you happened upon a set of all four of the narrower front wheels you'll be OK, if you bought the standard staggered setup the rears will be a very tough fit without running stretched tires, crazy camber, &/or pulling the fenders. Also since you have an AWD X Sedan tire diameter is extra critical. When running a stretched setup the diameters can change so that makes the whole fit even more complex.

Good luck, maybe you can find someone running an aggressive Z that would want all 4 back GTR wheels and could swap the fronts w/ you, that would be the best IMO.

New pics uploaded.

The white car has 4 rears and no rubbing. My dilemma is the color of the wheels. The wheels and my car match too much, so there's no contrast. I'm leaning toward the OEM silver shade.

Thanks for the pics, I remember that setup. I see what you're saying about wheel color and lack of contrast, although my G is pretty much all black so IMO it wouldn't look bad.

Those GTRs look great in gunmetal, not sure how well a silver would translate. Have you considered a bronze perhaps? The ones in this pic might be worth a look~

I havent really considered bronze. I'm pretty torn about the decision. The GTR wheels came in bright silver in 2009 as a "cold weather package" so it wouldnt be too bad if I made the color change. They look pretty awesome when the light is hitting them, but they look very dark and plain at night. I just feel that once I mount the tires and put them on the car, I'll be stuck like that forever...or until I sell them.

I'm leaning toward just fixing the rash and mounting them, but I keep flip flopping between the two options.

I just did some test fitting this morning, and I must say I'm in love with the color now. I took detailed pics of clearance with natural camber. Just like I thought, wheels should clear with about an extra degree of negative camber and a stretched tire.

Will post pics soon.

I should be able to max out the stock camber arms to avoid the wheels from hitting the fender. If not, I'll pick up SPC rear arms. I also need to get toe arms (I have true-type coilovers). I'm trying to avoid getting toe bolts because I don't want to drill/elongate the holes.

Damn, don't change a thing, that color is going to rock on that G!
Not a fan of stretched tire setups but you gotta do what you gotta do, and the look is going to be bad as$, so should be worth it. Maybe you can get by w/ a 255?
