There is a black chrome spray paint that looks interesting.

My 2011 G37 wheels have quite a bit of scratches on them. I don't think we have anyone who powdercoats locally; so I'm looking at DIY approaches. The carbon fibre film looks interesting, and the how-to's on youTube look easy enough.

I had not thought about just painting them, as the OP did. I am thinking that, even if I do go with the cf film, I need to prep them first and paint primer of some kind will be part of that prep.

Any thoughts on this?

if you want it done right.. powder coat them..

doing it yourself, no matter how thorough, will always have imperfections, especially with chipping.. PC withstands that better

Oh, the other thing i forgot to mention when i did paint my wheels, was fixing the curbage (from the previous owner). I used bondo, and it actually worked flawlessly. Obviously when i did end up getting them powdercoated, the sand blasted all that off, but for the paint... bondo is a good way to fix any chips/ curbing.

I had my mirrors & front lip spoiler hydro-dipped in Carbon fiber, the shop did the priming, the film, and the clear coat. It was lighter than I wanted so I put a finish coat of Niteshades to tint it darker. If you have any gouges you'll have to address that but the shop should do the priming I think. Here's a link to those parts I did.
