Tire size and availability

My 2011 g37 journey sedan has 225/50-18 tires. I noticed that many summer tires don't come in that size. Am I stuck with that size? I don't want to have my speedometer re calibrated. I am interested in the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO, which is highly rated by Consumer Reports and also cheaper than most others, but it is not made in 225/50-18.

You can go 235/50 or 235/45 and should be ok. I forget where the tire calculator is, but its if you are within 3% of the OE tire spec then you should be fine.

You can even go 245 wide.

Also, with that size, I'd go with Michelin PSS (for sport ride) or Primacy MXM4 (for comfort). They cost a little more but better than the Hankooks. If you go with Michelins, wait for their $70 rebate. It comes and goes every month.

I have the same wheels and tires all around. The largest size I found that we can get without making the speedo off is 245/45/18. I know that's not your exact question but hopefully it helps.

^ yup. 245/45/18 is almost identical OD to 225/50/18. That might be a good option for the OP. lots of choice at 245/45.

Does this really come up that often? If so, that makes my next tire decision pretty easy. I have been debating between the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and the Continental DWS. The A/S 3 have a V rated tire for $155 per tire, which is less than the DWS to begin with and then the $70 rebate would be icing on the cake.

I think Michelin lists their rebates/specials on their website, I haven't been over there lately but this used to be the case.

Does it have to go through their website or will it work at places like tirerack as well?

Yes. It usually runs for 2 weeks every month. Just keep checking the price on discount tire and tirerack. Also Discount tire usually have 100$ off for a set of 4 for certain tires during any major holiday. It usually runs only friday and saturday of that week. July4 is coming up so look for it.

Talking 2011 G37xS Tire Question

First, I'd like to say I'm grateful for finding this forum! I'm a newb, so pardon my long post, and hope I'm posting in the right spot based on the rules.

I've spent all darn day going around in circles trying to find a tire replacement for my newly 'purchased' but used 2011 G37x Sport sedan with AWD. Like forrmark, I have 225/50-18's and can't find many high performing "All Season" in that size as I live in New England and see lots of snow.

From what I've read here, it seems my best choice is the 245/45-18 for replacement all around, as the Offset Calculator shows -0.66%.

I'd like to purchase the Cooper Zeon RS3-A as it seems like the best value price I can get for the performance at discounttiredirect.com ($584 - $60 Visa = $524 Final).

My other option was the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring which comes in the stock
225/50-18 size, which is cheaper ($464 Final) but only has a "T" speed rating and probably won't perform as well.

I've worked hard to get this car, so I just want to make sure I'm OK with ordering these 245/45-18's and just need some reassurance. Is there anything else I should check first?

Thanks a lot guys!!
