Hey guys, I know this is a newb question but I have heard of a few people putting wider tires on the stocks wheels.

I was wondering if anyone could verify this and if so what sizes could you run?

 

You can go 245 fronts, and 275 rears.

Did you have any rubbing? And was turn in/handling any better because of it?

 

I believe the only way you will rub is if you are lowered to a certain point and have spacers on your OEM wheels.

Im lowered 1 1/2" with 20MM spacers, I rub slightly on heavy dips in the rear!!

15MM spacers, wont rub. Even lowered.

You wont rub with larger tires unless you have spacers.

 

Very common upgrade on the oem 19's is 245/40-19 and 275/35-19.. Fits fine and looks great.

 

same deal if you put those wheels on a sedan?

 

HI. Just purchased a 2010 Journey Sport with factory 19" rims. I searched the threads but saw no mention of 285/35/19 for the rears as an alternative. I was speaking with a guy from tirerack and he suggested this size. (I will use the 245/40/19 for the front)

Anyone know if this is OK? BTW, I'm looking at using the Bridgestone Potenza SO4 Pole position.

You'll be fine w/ the diameter as it's only .51% different than oem size. Tires will be a bit pinched which may cause a bit more center tread wear but the extra bulge at the sidewall is a good rim protector
