Rim Opinion

Hi All,

I found a set of 19" Infiniti rims on craigslist. Seller wants 250.00 for the set, no tire. I haven't checked them out yet but per the seller, they are in decent shape, not bent, one rim has some curb rash.

I was thinking of trying to restore them and have them powdered in gun metal for my G37s sedan.

Any opinions on the rims or the work, good/bad/ugly.

Thx!

Seafoo

they're ok. you probably end up paying at least $400 to have them restored. Not sure how much powerdercoating will cost. Find out the specs of those. Width and offset.

Those would look nice in gunmetal, not sure but they look like the previous generation G35 coupe Rays, if so, they're nice quality wheels and worth a restore. Offsets might be a tad aggressive if you're not lowered though. Be a lot better if you had closeups of each wheel just so you know going in what's involved to get them looking clean again.

Those aren't worth 250 without tires.

How can you tell they're not bent?

What I was thinking. Maybe he meant "major bent" visible.
I would pass, unless you live up north and this would be a winter set.

Those look like the 18 inch G35 coupe wheels. I do not think they ever came in 19's.

I have them in black on my car a couple if posts down and another forum member has them in the original finish.

What Redpit said. Those are definitely 18" wheels from the G35. They were the original Sport model wheels before the 19" Rays were introduced.

Just throwing this out there because I recognize the member name... the OEM wheels that are on your car right now are Enkie's, and they're staggered. I call them "duckfeet" because a friend pointed out to me that they look like duckfeet, and he's right, they do. While not the most attractive design, they're not hideous either. They're just blah, is all.

My point being, swapping one set of OEM Infiniti wheels for another set of older OEM Infiniti wheels is a small mod for (potentially) a lot of money. Particularly if you have to also buy new tires. And although there are better tires out there than those OEM Bridgestones, the summer-only Potenza's are hardly crap. You'll find yourself spending at least $1000 for comparable rubber.

You're starting down a $250 road that could (and likely should) easily turn into a $2000 or $3000 trip.

Good reply, could be a long & winding road from Craiglist to finality. And if they are only 18" rims a good used set of newer 19" coupe wheels would be a better plan, and should be able to find some that wouldn't need any work.
Might even have decent tires left too
