yes the title says it.long story short, I finally got my wheels on after months and months of patiently waiting, I've had them on for 5 days and noticed my car was all over the place only to notice the tire was FLAT. luckily i was passing a gas station so i pulled in to put air, and all i heard was it spewing out as i tried to fill it. Luckily,again, i was less than a mile from home so i slowly drove it home. question is, It is a 275/30/20 tire wrapped around a 20x10.5 iconz wheel will it damage the wheel if it is just sitting in my driveway for a day or so?? I am extremely careful with bumps and potholes so I know i didn't rash the tire while driving. I would be absolutely crushed if my wheel(s) get damaged. ....i guess thats what i get for purchasing used tires...(off of a forum member, btw. won't mention name though.)

 

Put it on jackstands and get the issue resolved you can use soap and water to see where the leak is coming from yourself but the tire shop can do that as well and plug the leak up for you.

 

Just sitting there, NO IT WONT HARM IT!!!! But the little bit of driving that you just mentioned can potentially harm it big time! Put on your spare tire! and roll the defected tire around to see if there is any noticeable damage. If there is not then play with the valve stem and see if you can make it hissssss by moving the shaft of the stem.Finally, go to discount tire and ask them to fix your problem, they should do it for free.

 

there's a good chance you may have damaged your tires inner wall by driving it flat so have a good shop check out the inside. i highly doubt by buying a used tire is the cause for your flat, i've bought used tires before and never had any issues. the wheels won't get damaged in leaving it flat but i do recommend you jacking up to relieve all that weight on your rim.

chances are, that if you heard it hissing, the damage might be serious. last time i heard that from a tire, the inside wall of the tire had a 1" gash in it.

 

If you drove a fully deflated tire, then I think you have your answer

I carry a rope tire repair kit in the trunk and a 12V compressor. If i'm in town, i'll just install the temp spare. If out of town, then plug it with rope and reinflate.

I picked up a screw shortly after getting the tires mounted on the bike last season. 2-3K miles. It was 1" off center on the back tire. Plugged it as above. Held for the next 6K miles until I replaced both tires due to wear.

 

****t... .... doesn't sound good. i talked to a buddy of mine and he suggested calling the place that i got my wheels/tires mounted and having them remount it, because he thinks it was beaded right? (idk if thats the correct term) does that sound like a good assumption?

 

It's possible to have a leak around the bead. Typically common with older aluminum wheels. A little bit of rust develops and causes slow leaks.

Possible to have a leak in the valve stem, or around it, especially with older tpms where the gaskets are reused.

If the bead wasn't seated right, the first bump you hit the tire would have likely unseated.

 

Put on your stocks take the wheel and tire to a reputable shop to get it looked at.........

 

I'm gonna guess since you bought a set of used tires, one of them doesn't hold air too long. Previous owner probably knew this.

 

Didn't your TPMS tell you your tire was low on air?

 

they didnt come with TPMS >_< and yes PCASEY, I plan on bringing them back to the shop this weekend and having them look at it. SHould I ask them to remount or what? Not exactly sure how to go about this

 

They'll reinflate the tire, then dip it in the tank to see where its leaking from.

 

If the tires held air for 5 days I doubt they were bad when you got them. Did you get new valve stems when you mounted them? Have you looked for a nail or something similar?

 

Right, but by the 3rd day it already needed air. I didnt see one but i will inspect more thorough
