looking for more info here! i was told by a mobile curb repair person that infiniti wheels are very difficult to color match due to the fact that they typically have a black undercoating, needless to say the person who fixed one of my rashes didnt get a perfect match but i guess good enough. i rashed again earlier but small, i so far sanded it smooth and now im in the process of researching a good paint to color match/blend with the oem color. im looknig for for info if anyone has insight. otherwise if i find out myself, ill fill people in with info

I feel your paint...I hate wheel rash. I think your best bet for long standing repair would be to send them to a company that repairs wheels....or file them down yourself and then have them powdercoated. With powdercoat you could even customize the color which could end up looking quite nice.

I saw a silver genesis coupe the other day with red wheels and it looked very tasteful and sporty. Play with color options on your PC and see what might look mean.

Care to share your friend's name (or shop's name)? Are they able to repair any damage to the wheels?

Also, pics!

I bought a set of 09 OEM wheels from someone here on this site. They had some minor damage that I was informed of before I took them. I had them bead blasted repaired and powder coated and clear coated in the factory color which was done perfectly. The job cost about $720. which isn't cheap but was a perfectly done job. The work was done at the Wheel Collision Center in Bath PA.. If I ever need a wheel repaired again I'll be back there in a heart beat.

hey guys its not gunmetal, gun metal is significantly lighter than this but this was a mix between charcoal grey and almost black with a semi gloss finish...

So does this mean that if I did curb my OEM wheels, it would not be possible for a shop to fix them up and give them a proper color match? Would I be able to do so at a dealership (probably not, since they usually contract out their work)?

it will be tough, but the silver one would be much easier to match. The guys who did my rims said that i should put the 2 curbed ones on the same side so match. DUMB @$$es. Or paint all 4. i will wash my car tomorrow, & show you the diff between the oem, & painted one.
