To any AWD owners with a drop and non-oem wheels

I'm looking to do a drop with some Eibach PK springs on my '09 G37x and at the same time want to get a set of summer wheels and tires. I'm just trying to gauge the risk of running 20x10.5 (+45et or so) in the rear with 285/35R20 tires as far as rubbing goes. I've seen people who have done it on some BC Coilovers, but I'm not sure how much of a drop they have. I did try to search the forums for anything relevant but it was slim pickings from what I did find.

TL;DR - Anybody running 285/35R20 in the rear with the Eibach PK springs without issue? PS. If this is an idiotic question, please forgive me. This is the first car I've had where I'm actually doing suspension and wheel changes.

I used to run 20x10.5 + 42 with 285 tires in the rear with no issues on an Eibach drop. You should be perfectly fine with + 45. What wheels do you have in mind?

From: Framingham Ma,
GD luck on a X casue the fronts are going to have to be 265's. :/. I'm dropped on 19's and had to make sure my overal diam was the same as the stock wheels so my t case would not be affected. The think rears are 265-35-19 and fronts are 245-40-19, Dont quote me tho I have not looked in months since I put them on and dont remember,, LOL

I've been looking at the CV3s from Vossen. Had been looking at a set of Forgestar F14s as well but the CV3 is winning me over lately...

Haha, I wouldn't dream of putting a 285 on the front. I'd do a 20x9 with a 245/35 tire.

lol what?? you're running 265 in the fronts or the rears?

OP - I've got CV1s +32/+42 with 245/35 285/30 tires. If you roll with those tires, you'll be within like 1/2% rolling diameter. I drove on them for 4k miles and had zero problems. I'm not a big fan of 5 spokes and I love the F14s. So I say go with Forgestars. Or if you're interested, I want to sell my Vossens. May be able to hook you up with a good deal

I'm gonna pull the trigger soon on 20x9 +38 245/35 all around, conservative I know. I don't want to shave anything or have any problems though.

Part of me agrees with you on the 5 spoke wheels. I love the wheel itself, but on the G I can't quite come to a conclusion. I have a feeling I'll end up with the F14s though as I absolutely fell for them at first sight. I've just been going back and forth for a couple weeks haha.

I was thinking the same for awhile just to play it safe. But from what I've read nobody has had an issue with a 285 so I figure I'll at least give it a shot.
