tire rotation
tire rotation
makin a trip down to the dealership in a few weeks. planning on asking for a tire rotation bc car is just about a year old now. from those with experience, how much should i expect to pay for a simple tire rotation? no idea what the proper amount is on average.
Not sure if you have the Base, X, or S. But if you have an S you can't rotate your tires. Otherwise it shouldn't cost more than 50 bucks and shouldn't take any more than 20 minutes. But if you're going to the dealership to do other work to your car ie oil change, they might rotate them for free.
Local tire shop should not be more than about $30 for rotation and balancing.

on my previous cars (98, 01 montero sports,01 acura 3.2 CL-S,08 acura TL), before i got staggered fitment, i used to rotate them on my own using the spare tire....gives you a good chance to clean your wheels properly.
also helped that i had a friend who owns a tire shop so after if i had any concerns i'd bring it to him and he'd balance for me if need be.

so since the tires are different sizes you cant do a traditional roation. But could/should you swap lefts for rights or are the tires directional (i have Hankooks). If so, how often should you do this?
With directional tires, you can't technically 'rotate' tires but you can swap from left to right and vice versa. The rotation of the tires will still be the same, but will be on the other side of your car. Doing this helps especially if you are lowered and you get more inner tire wear. Once you swap them, the inner side will be on the outer. This however requires unmounting tires and re-balancing.
^yeah I knew that... Do people actually swap tires though? I feel like that takes alot of extra work and most don't go through the trouble. Plus this puts you at more risk of scratching your wheels up.
