Should I get the DWS or ...?

Finally time to get a new set for my G37S coupe. I milked about 30K out of the stock Re05a's, but hated the last 15k due to road noise between 25 and 50 MPH.

Looking for advise on what to replace them with. First let me say a little about what I'm looking for.

Daily driver who gets on it occasionally, not a boy racer.
Live in SoCAL, temps are moderate; 40 to 100F with no snow or ice but some rain. However I still want a tire with at least good wet characteristics.
Low noise and long life are what I'm looking to improve the most.
I'll give up a little summer performance for wet traction, noise, and lifespan.

So after searching around a bit the Conti DWS seems what I'm looking for. Some basic searching here shows I'm not the first to say that. Some reviewers recommend running at ~40 psi to reduce sidewall flex.

My questions are:
1) The fronts only come in 225/40-R19 instead of the stock 225/45-R19. Will the reduced 1cm height be a problem or even look funny?
2) Do you have another recommendation (G37/35 drivers please), given above?
3) Anyone out there tried a set of the DWS on the G coupe?

Thanks.

The 40's are an inch shorter than normal which may give the car a semi goofy look and may even trip the VDC. In the stock sizes, I'd look at the Yokohama Envigor. That's a very close second to the DWS and is what people normally use if the DWS is on b/o or not available in their sizes.

Neal...what's the latest on the General G-MAX AS-03?

This tire is getting fantastic reviews...some even saying they like it better than the DWS because the sidewall is a little stiffer

Not hijacking the thread...just offering a possible option to jeffgoos

I run 275/35 rear, 245/40 front of Conti DWS. I have had no problems with them whatsoever, very low road noise, pretty decent comfort level. My issues with them are that they aren't as low profile as I would have liked, there is a little too much side wall in my opinion. Also, tire shine products do not work on it. I have tried many different sprays, but nothing seems to work for some reason.

I honestly think it's too early to tell how it will perform long term. Just came on the market, and like anything new at a good price, the few people that have had them rave after only a couple hundred miles. I'd wait until winter to see how they actually perform.

I agree with Shumby, the new Mich. Pilot Super Sports may be one of the best tires available and the price is lower then the PS2s.
