Everytime I wash my car, I use some compressed air to get out any moisure around the lugs to prevent this rust you are referring to.

Putting grease on the studs holding the wheel is considered a no-no.

To keep the anodized AL caps from seizing to the lug nut, I put a little moly grease on the threads and have never had a problem since.

As for the plastic key, it will also last longer after you start using moly grease on the lug cap.

+1 for Muteki R40. All metal everything and about $80...look better than the Volks IMO too
