Do vossens make you slow?

Ok so I got my vossens cv-2s on. Love the wheels! They are well built and look great. I got 20x9 in front and 20x10.5 in back. Now of course I realize these are going to be heavier than the stock 18s, but I thought it would only be a few pounds and not a noticeable difference in performance...
But...my car which used to run 5.5 now runs 6.2 0-60.
The kicker is that I so just put on fast intentions HFcs and CBE and r2c intake, so I thought the car would get faster, def not slower.
Obviously I'm a little surprised. Do you think the boltons are making the car slower since I have no custom tune yet? Or are these Cv-2a really THAT heavy that they make the car that much slower?
Any other 20' wheel that is lighter than stock that people would reccommend?

Damn, that's perplexing! I dont know the answer but I can say the additional weight of the wheels increase rotating weight and would slow it down but that much??? Process of elimination: Do a test run with the stock wheels back on and see if it's still slow.

yes heavy cast wheels will make your car feel slower. Your car now has to work harder to rotate those wheels.

You added unsprung weight at all 4 corners. Of course that will make you slower. I don't know how much more than your stock wheels they weigh, but if it's significant it will slow your acceleration significantly. Also keep in mind that not only did you add weight, but that the majority of the weight you added is much further away from the rotating axis than before. That makes it worse.

If your primary concern was a performance increase you should have bought some lightweight forged wheels. But hey, they look cool don't they?

you got heavier wheels, im sure you are also running wider tires compared to stock. so yes it will affect your acceleration.

Good answers all around. That makes sense. Like I said I did expect the wheels to be heavier and thus slower, but I was going by the 10lbs=1hp rule, so I thought the wheels would AT most subtract 4-5hps, which should have been more than made up by the boltons. I guess like BB said, that rule does not apply for wheels because there's the added component of initial rotation and being far away from the point of rotation, probably ends up being like 10lbs on wheels = 3 hp loss.

We'll see what happens after the tune, but....there's no way I'm gonna let my car be slower than stock, as much as I really love the look of those wheels!!!!

Oh man, I just might end up getting volks later lol ..... or save up for some TT (if GTM ever makes one for the X : (

it was probably a combination of the wheels/tire weight and your bolt ons... Remember that some bolt ons will make your car go faster(top speed), but not necessarily quicker
(0-60).

Another factor to look at is the traction.... makes a big difference with 0-60 times.

TT that sucka and you could still improve your 0-60 even if you're ballin' on 28" wheels.

What do u mean traction? I not spinning wheels (didn't before and don't now w the boltons ) and VDC is off. Other than wheelspin, can traction be decreased by wider tires???

Yeah as far as TT it's at least 2 yrs away, for now I just don't want to lose to a stock G from a dig lol that would be embarrassing!!
