Powdercoat

I know there's been discussion on whether or not powdercoating affects the integrity of the rim, and i've always thought it as a pretty permanent process. But once powdercoated, can you strip it down back to the original finish with no lasting remants?
and can you powdercoat it a different color? if so, does the original get stripped or another just laid over it?

I believe they sandblast the original finish off of your current rim. So no, you wouldn't be able to strip it and go back to the original. The upside to this is that if you have any chips on your current finish, you won't after you powdercoat. I'm actually thinking about doing this right now, my rims are pretty banged up.

I'm no expert, but if I'm understanding your question correctly, then yes you can fix a rim via the PC process. They'll sandblast your current coat off the rim, which may fix some light curb rash in the process. If the damage is too much, they probably have to do something extra to fix your rim. Then they'd apply PC after (whatever color you wish).

definatley, I just had my savinis recoated.
I also had a hairline crack on d/s rim,& major damage from crater size pothole.

btw, I went to a rim shop that was recommended, told the barell needed to be replaced & passenger rim was ng.

$500 including mounting/dismounting & adding a custom pintstripe. Good as new with lifetime warranty.

powdercoating is very durable.

Absolutely.

And, powdercoating is a nice thick durable surface so any subsequent repairs are easy to coverup and as long as the color is correct it will blend right in.

Here is a quick pic of my PG

Just curious what are you're from. $500 for repair, PC, and mounting/dismounting is a pretty good deal. Please say SoCal
