Powdercoat coming off springs / anti-rust spray?

I just picked up a set of used springs and noticed that the powdercoat was starting to come off on a few spots on the springs. Im assuming that the powdercoat is added to springs for a layer of rust protection? I believe the springs are made of stainless steel, and I was wondering since portions of the powdercoat have come off, if I should repaint them with rustoleum or spray them with any anti-rust spray before installing.

Any thoughts?

I would if they are off the car. My Eibachs are doing the same thing. I don't know how cause my car is a garage queen.

Just incase anyone else is having this problem, I went to home depot last night and picked up a can of flat black rustoleum industrial rust proof spraypaint for 6 bucks and put 2 coats on. Its a nice and thick coating on the springs.

Rustoleum sells about 50+ types of spraypaint now, and most of them were smaller cans for 4-5 bucks. The one I got was the industrial grade, which adheres to multiple surfaces for 6 bucks. The other ones, which were 4-5 bucks were regular rust paint and the can only said it adhered to metal.

I feel fully confident that my springs are rust resistant and will last awhile, plus, I was able to paint them black and make it a stock like look.

when you guys installed your springs did you guys put that rubber coil on the top and low end of the spring to avoid metal to metal contact?

^ When I installed the springs, I left the rubber piece in place which was in the middle of the spring. I guess on the end would provide better protection from the metal on metal contact.

If I were to do it again, I would put it on the end.
