Hey all,

Recently bought some GT30s (finally!) in the standard sizes F 20 x 9.5 +35 R 20 x 10.5 +37. I need new tires, so I think I'll go with the Hankook Ventus V12, as those seem to have favorable reviews. I am dropped on Eibachs. Should I play it safe and go with 245/35 front and 275/30 in rear? Or should I go with 255/35 and 285/30? I think I'd like as much tire on the rims as possible, for looks and protection. Trimming the fender lining is no problem, but messing with the bumper bracket kind of worries me as its purpose is to support the bumper.

I have coilovers that are set a little lower than Eibachs. I have very similar sized Volks (20x9.5 +32, 20x10.5 +34) and I have 255F 285R. I rub ever so slightly on one side only when I hit big dips. I am within factory spec camber and toe, I think I'm at -1.8 in the back. If I get the camber set to -2.1 or so I wont rub. The front wont rub at all.

I currently have the Hankooks and I like them.

Get the wider tires, you will very likely not have any issue with rubbing at all.

Why don't you go 305 with those offsets in the rear and trim the bumper brackets. It'll sit nice and flush

 

285 will definitely be ok with those offset and drop. Even if it does a little you wont have to remove the bracket but you can either shave it down smaller or bend it back. Either way it will still function.

 

I'm running Volks same offsets as OP with 255.35F 285.30R Falken tires.. Plenty room, no rub and I'm lower than Eibachs. With Hankook V12s you will be just fine in these sizes/offset.

Cars are different, some will rub with 285 others won't. BB and I both rubbed on one side.. I've tried multiple heights to get 285 to work and camber out to .2 past spec, cut the flange and still... NO DAMN LUCK. I was able to lessen it, but still on bumps it would rub. I rubbed when I was on Eibachs and that was another reason I went to Tanabe's to help rectify it...Butt NOOOO. Finally surrendered and downsized to 275 and no rubbing. I can't really tell a big difference between 285/275 anyway, i think it's like .2" if I remember right. Rubbing is such a PITA, it's great to be free of it... roll your dice man... do you feel lucky? BTW, I have the same offsets as you.

I have GT30s with the same specs and dropped with Eibachs as well. I'm using Yokohama SDrives with 255/35 and 285/30 tires.

I do rub on occasion, mostly on the driver side.

I suggest getting the 255 and 285. Rubbing is possible but it shouldn't be a problem.

 

I did not rub w Falken 452s 285/30 on a +39 lowered on S techs but I started rubbing w same offsets and drop w 285 hankooks! Something w the damn Hankooks square *** sidewalls! On a +37 w 285/30 hankooks only thing I'm wondering I's if Eibachs will be ok because w S techs it rubed! I think u may be ok since it's a mild drop but try it and see.
Fronts Will be ok.
