I agree these are a poor tire, although I only have around 600km on them. I am driving a 2010 G37xS and previous I had a 2009 G37x and the tires on the non-sport G37 (I can't recall the brand right now) seemed to handle better, were significantly smoother and were way less resistant to tramlining. I found the handling difference to be odd given the S model has 18" wheels vs 17" and I would have expected the more low profile to pay dividends in handling despite my expectations of a slightly more harsh ride but that isn't the case.

Maybe the tires are still breaking in, but if I take an onramp at speed the Dunlops seem to slide out at the rear end a bit whereas the G37x tires did not do that at the same speed. Much less confidence driving these tires than my other tires.

The winters (Primacy Alpin PA3s) on my 2009 seemed way better.

I need to check my tire pressure as in the onramp situation like I mentioned above, it seems like my back end isn't sticking to the road or is sliding out a little bit, almost like I am driving on high profile rubber that is folding over on the sidewall.

Cost effective and blow away the stock tires by far! Better than Falken or Dumplopes any day!

Sessanta's fall into the same category of sub-par tires like the FK452 and T1R.

It's marketed as a high performance summer tire, but can't really compete, so they just sell em cheap.

Regardless, those tires are useless in the snow.

I couldn't agree with you more. I hated these tires and sold them ASAP as soon as I was able to get my Continental Extreme Contact DWS all season tires. Instead of the factory 225/50/18 I went with 245/45/18 as Continental does not make OEM sizes in that tire design. They ride AWESOME. They are quiet, smooth and handle as well as any all season tire I've ever had. They are hard to get now as they are popular but they are worth the wait and they are priced quite well when you do get them. Good luck.

This is exactly what I was looking to hear from an owner going from OEM to the DWS...any negatives? How do you like the new tire size in terms of appearance?

you will like the DWS...had them on my Audi...spectacular handling for an A/S tire and better than even some summer tires...excellent wet and snow traction...very quiet...they are an UHP A/S tire and rated the best in that category...also the sidewall is nice and clean

definitely recommend the DWS

G37xS Tramlining Dunlop SP Sport Stock Tires

Traded my 2004 G35 6sp MT for a 2010 G37xS AWD a couple months ago due to changing needs. First thing I notice on way home freeway speeds, slight tire grooved lanes caused severe pull tramlining. Did not know what it was. Twice spoke with Kirkland WA Infiniti service folks; They tell me ...oh normal with AWD...expect that... I, however, think it serious safety concern at 70mph. Do not know whether an Infiniti design flaw or a Dunlop tire that sucks. Superb car other than this flaw.

I had the DWS put on my 2001 i30. The DWS tires are excellent. It was actually hard to engage the ABS because they gripped so well during braking (in fact I think their braking grip, even in wet and snow, is better than their acceleration grip)

I absolutely hate the Dunlops on my 11 LE, but I cant see spending 1K on tires when I just got the car 5 days ago. Bringing it in on Monday because I think they are out of balance, and plan on mentioning the tramlining and road feel issues to the dealer. Im sure they will do next to nothing about it, but it will be a start (Ill talk to Infiniti corporate if I have to, which again probably wont do anything, but maybe the '12s wont come with these horrible tires anymore)

That's because you brake with 4 tires, but accelerate with 2 (unless you have AWD).

Agreed, but this was comparing the same exact car before and after.

I havent priced them out yet for my '11 x, but Im afraid to see the cost for the 18s. They were far from cheap for the 17s I had on the i30.

This is strictly due to the Dunlop tire!!!! I hated those tires. Trust me, I've owned the Conti's DWS for a year now and they are great. You will notice a difference IMMEDIATELY with regard to tramlining. I was able to sell my Dunlops and I nearly paid for the Conti's for what I got for them. I changed my tires in the first 2 months because I couldn't stand the ride the Dunlops gave. My car is FUN to drive now all year round!!!
