18" OE Dunlop tires - NEED INFO
Hi! I have been reading your posts for a while, but I just registered, since I finally bought my G! Car of my dreams. I love it.
I own a 2009 G37x coupe. I bought it with winter tires on since I live in Montreal (lots of snow) and I got the car in Febuary. So, I never tried the car with the OE Dunlops.
For those of you who have these Dunlops, I would like to hear about them. How do they perform in summer? Are they sporty? How is the sidewall flex? How's cornering?
I like tight cornering. I don't like soft sidewalls and flex. Will I still enjoy my G37x with those or should I just buy a new set of tires right away?
I used to have Potenza RE050s on my old Mazdaspeed6, that's the kind of sidewall stiffness I like. If you guys tell me I won't enjoy the Dunlops, I might go 245/45R18 all around instead of 225/50.
Thanks a lot!!!

I thought that they weren't good in the snow even with AWD.
They also have been noisy. With 20k miles on them now, I'm looking to replace them with a quieter, more luxury tire, despite the fact that there is still plenty of tread left.
As far as sidewall stiffness- if this is what you like, I would recommend them. They are not soft. They are sporty, corner good and not affected by extremes in temperature like summer only tires.

Yeah, I would say average at best in snow. Just enough compound to make them an a/s tire. Not really that quiet or long lasting. Good response and dry handling but that's about it. Typical oem tire.
