I've had it with the Dunlop's
The Dunlop SP Sport Maxx A1-A A/S....that come on the 37xS are awful. I actually had enough today and called Infiniti of NA to give them my 2cents. Anyone else feel this way about them?

Sorry. They ride harsh, noisy on the highways, and handle like crap in the rain. And even worse when it's cold out they feel like there made of cement. Day-in-day-out though the biggest issue is how hard they ride over the smallest of imperfections.

What cars have you previously owned? This may be a characteristic of the car and not necessarily the tires.

Oh, crap. Just realized you're an AWD. I'm not sure what to tell you; a lot of that has to do with this car being sportier than your previous cars.

Profile generally has less to do with it than the sidewall of the tire itself. If you're not in an area where you need the winter/rain/snow grip, maybe a summer tire would suit you better? :shrug:
I'm not really sure what to tell you at this point... If you have the time, try this: Swap the rims from your vert onto the XS and see if it rides different. Or alternatively, from the sport pack. Turn off VDC, as it may freak out when you put on staggered tires. If it feels better with the other rims/tires, then we've at least narrowed it down to the tire itself. |
Yup, they're harsh and noisy on the highways, but I've never had a V rated or higher tire that isn't harsh and noisy. The Dunlops are silent compared to the Pilot Alpin PA3s I'm running now :)
Yup, they suck in the wet. That's probably the biggest drawback of the tire, but hey, they're a performance all-season tire. By their very nature, it's a compromise tire. Most summer and winter tires actually do better in wet than all-season tires. It's the nature of all-season tires. Yup, they get hard and hockey-puck like in the cold. Guess what, they're an all-season tire. They do that when it gets cold. Fortunately, they do it a little colder than a summer tire, but that's the way it is. The Dunlops aren't the worst tires I've been on, and with the right expectations, they aren't a bad tire. They also aren't a great tire. Especially for the price. Drive reasonably in the wet and they're fine. Driving in the snow and cold? They suck, put some winter tires on. Driving in the dry? They're actually pretty damn responsive. I just put 17's and PA3s on my 2010 g37xS and damn this is a fun car with winters in the snow :). My previous car was a 2007 G35S RWD with the Potenza RE050As and I thought that was an pretty good tire. AWESOME in the dry and fairly decent in the rain. Better than the Dunlops, but once again, it's a summer vs all-season compromise. The Dunlops are decent enough that I'm not wasting my money replacing them, although I can't wait til I burn through them and get some real summer tires on. |
