Tire Question - Replace in Pairs?
Tire Question - Replace in Pairs?
I have an 08 G37S coupe and over the past couple of weeks I've needed to fill up the air in the left rear tire 3 times. The low tire pressure warning lamp keeps coming on. So I'm guessing it's leaking air and will need to be replaced.
I'm planning on going to Just Tires to get this fixed/replaced either tonight or tomorrow. I have 22,000 miles on the car and all 4 tires are the original ones from the factory.
So do I need to replace both rear tires? Each one is about $300 as far as I can tell and that's pretty damn expensive. Or is it possible for them to patch up the hole or something? Recommendations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok so is Just Tires a safe bet? I once went to a Firestone in my last car (BMW 330i) and the mother f-er tried to sell me two brand new tires when I had a nail in one of them. I went to Just Tires right after and they took out the nail. It just so happened that the nail never penetrated the tire and I could drive off fine. No charge.
There's no Discount Tire next to me. And dealers usually charge a lot more and the closest one is quite far.
I'm still debating about replacing 1 or 2. I want to do 1 but only if it doesn't damage the car.

If you have 22K miles on the tires and the one leaking can't be repaired, I'd recommend replacing at least the pair. The OEM tires typically don't last much longer than that for most drivers and you might consider replacing them all if there's not significant tread life left on them. How much tread depth is left all around? Buy a tread depth gauge or have a shop measure it. The rears will have less tread life left than the fronts.
Ok thanks Black Betty. I'm thinking of replacing both rears if one of them needs to be replaced. At what tread measurement do they need to be replaced? At the last oil change I had about 3000 miles ago, they said I had plenty of tread left.
I want to be armed with as much info as possible before I go to the tire shop tonight so I don't get ripped off.
