Getting very close to choosing a set of wheels
Getting very close to choosing a set of wheels
OK, so I have been researching wheels for over a month, probably more like two, and I think I might have found what I want. I have considered saving up and buying some volks or something similar, but to be honest, I don't like the volks, and I would freak if I got rash on them or if they got stolen or something.
So, I think I am going to with a cheaper wheel initially. If I decide I want nicer ones eventually, I can use these as winter or back up wheels, or sell them.
Anyway, here's what I am looking at -

They are Tenzos. They're not god-awful heavy (23.5# for a 19) and I like the look of them. They'll be going on a black 37x sedan.
I have a couple questions. As of now, I plan to go with as close to factory offset as I can. Should I change this since I plan to lower it in the future? Also, how wide can I go in the rear? Should I do 8.5 all around, or go 9.5 in the rear?
Thanks

for the sedan I'm not 100%, but I think 9.5 would be better in the rear (my coupe is running 20x9/20x10.5)...some people don't like to do staggered on the X's but as long as the diameter on front/back stays the same you will be fine.
One thing to think about, is black wheels on a black car always look smaller (to me at least) so getting black on black in 19 will make the wheels look really small...you may want to consider going to 20's. just food for thought

Good point. I will look into it. Also, what do I do about the TPMS? Do I have to order new stuff, or can what's already on the stock wheels be used? I know nothing about this stuff, if you couldn't already tell.
And why will the gap be bigger after upgrading to 19's? If I use the recommended size (245/40/19) won't the overall diameter still be the same?

Well, this wheel doesn't come in a 20, but hopefully the contrasting ring will prevent them from looking too small. Also, anything will look better than the stock 17's that are on there. They're inherently uninteresting to me, and mine were already beat up when I bought the car.
oh you know what, I didn't even think that you were on 17's now...I was thinking of the OEM 19's on the S coupe...so yeah you should be fine going from 17 -> 19
yes, the TPMS can be transfered between wheels. And if you do transfer your OEM TPMS to a new set of wheels, they DO NOT need to be reset. The only time you really need to reset your TPMS is if you get new ones

also...have you talked to Lou@Amplified or Danny (Limited Edition) about wheels? They can get some pretty sweet deals on some really nice sets of wheels if you are looking for more options
