20" vs 19" performance.

Could aggressive street drivers run 20" wheels and still get equal performance to the original 19s? For example the lighter Volks G2 in 20". The sidewall would be skinny, but aside from ride comfort, would the performance be equal?
Thanks

With larger wheels it usually a trade off, better handling (shorter = stiffer sidewall) for less straight line acceleration. You also get the advantage of rocking larger brake rotors.

I have the G2's in 20's and actually noticed better acceleration and braking. Even though they are larger in diameter, there is enough weight savings to off set the larger size.

20 in rims have no adverse effect on acceleration because the OD is usually same as stock. I can def feel faster acceleration bc rotating weight is reduced by 16:2. I have 20in G2s too: 8 lbs less on rim+tire per corner compared to stock, so 256lbs equiv dead weight reduction. rim will always be lighter than rubber. now does it translate into getting me faster to work in the morning? hasn't yet haha

A bit better handling/response out of the 20's, slight better ride in 19's. Not talking large difference here but some can tell the difference. 19's will offer more protection to the wheel if you have poor quality roads, but 20's do look good on the car though.
