Will K&N cold air intake on IPL increase whp without ECU tune

I have a 2011 G IPL. Wondering if the K&N cold air intake will give me any WHP gains without an ECU tune as the car already comes tuned to optimize engine performance.

K&N may flow better than the genuine filter, but they'll also let more dirt through.

I don't think you'll need a tune to realize any increased output from the K&N filters. The ECU will sense more air flow via the MAF sensors and adjust injector pulse width, etc. accordingly.

I don't think the slight gain you'll see with the K&N setup is worth the risk of ingesting more dust. The VQ37VHR has twin air intakes! I think it's already highly optimized.

If u want sound get the short ram intakes. If you want performance, get long tube intakes. I got Stillen gen3 cold air intake and they not "as dirty" as the guy above makes it seem. With the short ram intakes. You'll get very minimal gains off of bolt on. You'll be fine.

I'd love to see before and after dyno. runs. I'm guessing these aftermarket setups have little advantage over the stock configuration (unless you're looking for more intake sound).

i like the stock IPL sound but just looking for the cheapest way to get more out of the car. Been reading more posts and one of the members got 17 whp gain on his 2011 IPL with Stillen Gen 3 plus an uprev tune.

Just dont want to spend the money only to find out i didnt do jack to the car

I'd wager most of the 17 hp comes from the tune. That said, I do love intake sound!
