brake issue on new 2010 G37X

I have a a brake pedal vibration that is consistent with the road terrain. If the road is smooth and I apply the brakes, no problem, smooth as silk. So it is not warped rotors. But if the road is at all bumpy at all, even manhole covers, etc, it feels as if the suspension is transmitting the feel into the brake pedal. It almost feels as if the ABS is "very slightly" activating, (I know this is not possible, but that is the best way to describe the feeling) but to a much lesser degree than the hard chattering the ABS would cause. Almost feels like a light grinding even after the car passes over the bumps if the brakes are held. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle, a little concerned....dealer says it is normal?!!?

F' the dealer. That is not normal. Your brakes may not have been properly lubricated out of the factory. That happened to me. When I hard braked, you'd hear and feel this clicking knocking sound from the front wheels and feel it in the brake pedal. Brought back to the dealer and fixed under warranty no problems.

My front rotors were warped at 7k miles. I had to have the dealer resurface them, now it's all smooth as silk.

i notice the manual refers to a pulsating sensation caused by the VDC that is "normal" , but that should also trigger the VDC dash light if it were truly active. I tried turning off the VDC and it made no difference so I guess it's back to the dealer again...it is getting really bad, especially on any slightly bumpy roads...

I felt the same sensation when braking at moderately speed on hard surface. I think it is normal, the suspension is skittish while braking on hard surface. Traction control or abs may have active but lights may not have enough time to came on.

What you are describing is normal. On smooth roads it feel fine but on rougher roads you experience more road feel through the brake pedal as you push down.

I'm sure the low profile tires also add to this effect but the AWD G's I have used as loaner cars with the 17" wheels felt the same.

I have own 2 brand new G's, 08xS & an 09S, and both felt the same. And again every loaner G I have driven has the same break feel on rough roads. You'll get used to it. Over-all in a performance car you need to be able to feel the road as opposed to getting a disconnected feeling like you get in some other cars.

I have a 09 and feel the same way as the OP. Dealer said normal. I think it's fine but I like the smooth feeling better.

My 09 AWD feels the same. A little vibration at the brake pedal over rough roads. It's also the first time I've experience this with any car.

My 09 doesn't do it and neither do any of the 2010 loaner cars I have had. Go to the dealer and test drive another car that is similar to yours and see if there is the same issue.

^^ Mine did that, and pulsed until I had the rotors resurfaced as I mentioned earlier in the thread - now they feel smooth braking over any surface.

Interesting we have a difference of opinion here. I too feel that some pedal vibration over rough roads when braking, is normal. As long as braking is smooth (both hard and light braking) on smooth pavement, I feel confident all is well.

Thanks everyone for the input, it seems like the more people I talk to the more it sounds like this is a "normal" condition. I'll be at the dealer soon so I'll take another one for a ride and see if it is the same. Thanks again all!

Like I said I bought 2 brand new G's and they both felt the same. And they were driven everyday on the same roads since I have not moved or changed jobs. The rougher the road the more road feel you get through the brake pedal. On smooth roads you feel nothing.

On my 08xs I had the dealer resurface the rotors but it made no difference. I don't even notice it anymore.

I think you are just noticing normal road feel through the brakes. These brakes transmit alot of road detail through the pedal (more than any other car I've driven) which is handy on a track where you are really braking by feel alot of times. I just wish the steering had as much feel as the brakes....

This is probably true. I just need to get used to the feeling
