Stupid TPMS
Stupid TPMS
Ok, so since the day I got my G 2 months ago my TPMS light has been on SOLID all the time. No flashes, no blinks, nothing. I finally got it in today to get fixed. That lasted all of a couple miles and it was on solid again. All the tires are at 35, that isn't the issue. I can't find anything in the manual about a simple solid light. Anyone have any ideas? I am going to have to take it in again anyways since they ordered me that tow cover that was missing in my front grill, but this is getting annoying. The car is fantastic minus the stupid light. Do you think I have a bad sensor?
According to the dealer:
If any one tire is out 2 psi from any other tie the light trips. IF the tires are all at a specified level that is not what the computer says it shouldbe, the light trips. Say the computer is set for 32 and the tires are at 35, light trips.
I was told I can have the computer set to a specific pressue so when we get new tires we can run brand specific pressures.
Take it in and have them validate all this. Some guys at the dealer are not familiar with how it really works.

Wrong, the TPMS comes on when the tire pressure is below 26-28psi (I forgot the exact number its been a few years..) it has nothing to do with one tire being less inflated than the other. It's just a bad sensor and they need to do a better job at finding out what the problem is instead of reseting the ECU and sending you on your merry way. And yeh the light should come on ~20 minutes after driving. You haven't changed your rims have you?

No, the tires (as stated on the driver door panel) are supposed to be at 35psi all around. Therefore, 36 is purely coincidence (hey that rymed). Like I said before the sensors will not come on until the tires are lower than about 26-28.
Yeah, 1 psi isn't going to change it. I still think I have a bad sensor.
Mine came on and my lowest pressur was 33 psi....the dealer put on aftermarket 20s and it went on whlie i was driving it home. bad sensor you think?
i dont think i quite understand, so u have after market wheels, with reseted tpms. and then they just went on mid drive? if so maybe check psi's again, if that isnt the case, then probably failty sensor maybe damaged during the transfer?
