Well I just went to the dealer on monday, had my battery replaced and the evap valve replaced as well
dealer was aware of the issue and didn't have any hassles with them
yesterday my SES light came on as well,
I just did a ecu reset so I'll see if it stays off
wonder if the two are related somehow

NO
STOP. This bulletin does not apply. Return to ASIST or ESM for further diagnostic assistance.
Very recently my '08 coupe (w/ OEM battery) sat in my garage for a month. Of course it wouldn't start. Searched this great forum and found it there's a TSB for the battery issue (also confirmed with my buddy in LA that had same issue after coming back from a long business trip).

Printed out TSB, jumped car and drove directly to only dealer in Chicago (city). Walked up to service counter. Service dude completely blows me off and refuses to even look at the printout. Gives me some run-around about how they do it "their own way". Calls me back at home after couple of hours and says "you got a dead cell and it just sometimes happens." Tries to charge me $100+ bucks for a new battery (I decline, see below). I give him hell for not even walking through the TSB after I'm completely sure I "fit the profile" based on customer usage pattern (i.e., you can't let the damn car just sit in your garage or the battery will drain!). Had to pull teeth to get a specific reason why TSB doesn't apply to me and I find out at the end of a stressful call (is it ever ok to just talk over/through the customer?) that his tech confirmed "VCV doesn't draw off battery." I accept it (though TSB doesn't mention anything about actually testing VCV, just to replace it if old-style and the battery) and go pick up my car. Overall negative experience with this dealer. Even if he is right there's a respectful way to explain it to the customer w/o hand-waving, bull**** medical analogies and treating customer like a high-school dropout. IMO, no point in buying luxury cars anymore, same issues and treatment as all the others. They actually seem to prefer less-educated customers, makes their job easier I suppose.

Guess you can't simply print out a TSB and expect results (or even respect!) even if you think you've got it well researched. Told the service dude I'm gonna run this up the flagpole so he said his mgr will call me this week to investigate further. I really don't care, lease is done in 3 weeks! Feel bad for the next guy that's going to get this car. I wish I could write the future owner a note and give him a heads up on the issues list with this vehicle.

Took my car into to Thousand Oak Infiniti last week to have them perform this TSB on my 08 coupe...

When I called to make an appointment they seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and what needed to be done with out question... they switched out my battery with a larger one from the M sedan, changed the evaporated emissions valve, and reflashed my ECU...

My experience with TO Infiniti was perfect.. even gave me a loaner car for a few days as my car was there for other warranty work also. My car is now cranking like a champ in cold weather, even after left sitting for a few days without start.

Took my car into Glendale Infiniti today. Told them about the battery, slow crank issue. They knew exactly what to do. They said there was a TSB out for it. Lets see what happens when I get it tmrw.

He also noticed the top of the console, and said that it would be repaired with another TSB. He said it was separating. I didn't see it, but hey let'em do it...

My original battery and vent control valve, per the TSB, were replaced last February. But I’m starting to notice that slow cranking again with the new battery. However, lately I’ve only driven the car for short trips every other day or so, so I’m wondering if perhaps this is normal. At any rate, I’m keeping my battery cables and AAA card handy.

Same deal with my '08 37S with only 7K miles. The dealer took good care of me. And I got to see the new IPL while I was there. That's an angry looking whip! If I was buying a '10 it's a no-brainer to dig a little deeper in your pockets to drive that bad boy home.

That's exactly what I noticed the other day after getting mine replaced 8 or 9 months ago. Starts were nowhere near as crisp as before and struggled to start. Lo and behold, my battery died today and I had to get a jump start from AAA (immediately after replacing a flat tire and another flat tire a couple days ago).

Thanks for the info on this TSB. My car (08 G37S coupe) was definitely cranking slowly and the dealer replaced the solenoid and got me a new battery. It's cranking like a champ now, and I believe it's fixed the "klonking" noise when starting a warm engine

I just had my battery upgraded, the valve replaced and the ECU upgrade or reset...which ever it was, Monday. My battery had died for the 3rd time over the weekend...the 2nd time in 2 days. They tried to tell me there was nothing wrong that my battery was fine and started w no problems...so I told them to go back and check the emissions sensor (the valve they replaced) and run a diagnostics on the car because I was tired of jump starting a 40/50K dollar car. They ran the diagnostics and finally said it was the sensor and replaced it and made the upgrades free of charge.

On this issue, sometimes I still go three days between starts. But in spite of having my battery and vent valve replaced via the TSB last year, I still often noticed some slow cranking when I started the car; where you get a sinking feeling the battery is about to fail.

I have taken some two hour trips on this battery where it should be fully charged afterward. Nonetheless, soon after not running the car every day, it would slip back to its slow cranking mode where I would be getting my AAA card ready.

So I invested in a battery charger just to be on the safe side. Last month I charged the battery with it to near a full charge. The car then started quickly as expected. But to my surprise even though I still leave the car idle for up to three days, the car starts quickly as if it’s still fully charged. It hasn’t slipped back once and I haven’t had to use the charger again.

I don’t really understand it, but if anyone has a similar problem, a home charge every now and then may resolve the issue.
