M35h impressions?

For those of you that have driven or own an M37/M56, did you also drive an M35h? What were your impressions? The nearest one to me is about 2 hrs away...and I'm not sure if I want to make the drive to test drive the car. The reviews I've read online have been mixed. Some reviewers think the gas engine seamlessly cuts in and out while others mention how noticeable the this is. Any real life experiences? Is it something that drew you away from the hybrid vs the gas-only engine?

TIA

I had one as a demo for about 3 months. The transistion from gas to electric IS rough.. not seamless at all. It didnt get me any better gas mileage, yet I'm pretty much all highway.

thanks for the feedback. the 360 hp on tap, EV mode an increase mpg are all very alluring...but if it's as rough as you say, (and I've read it's jolting too), then that would take a joy of driving away too much.

I talked to a guy in one at Costco ... he said he got 29mpg around town and the power was great. I was tempted to get one when I was M shopping. I was talking to my mechanic about it and he suggested take a look at the math, the extra price tag vs. the gas money saved vs the regular M. At the time with gas prices it came out to 8 years for my driving to break even .... not worth it IMHO.

At the time I read dealers were not budging much on the M35h plus they were hard to get on the East coast, very few of them on the lots so finding your color with options you want was just about impossible.

The M35H uses the System that the Q50H uses.

I have noticed that on the Q50s, when the car is new, the transition is noticeable. We had a new one we put into service as a loaner when they came out. 5 months later and 9k on the clock, the transition from EV to gas was almost gone (im not kidding). Its like the system "broke in".

On the M35Hs, I have only seen one here locally. I could blame it on the fact that people in Nebraska discourage RWD and since they never made it AWD, we dont carry them.

I would assume that the Q50s would have an updated system and the transition would be better on those.

As far as MPG, the owner of the one here averages 30mpg but admits that HWY isnt as great. Makes sense because the bulk of the recharge comes from Regen Braking and idling.

Hopes this helps.

Thanks guys! I'm not concerned about the "payback" that a hybrid would give back, but the extra mileage AND the increase HP over an regular M37. there are 2 near me (about 2 hrs away) that I could check out.

Again, it seems that some people say the transition is noticeable and others say it's not....

Right now, I'm eying up an black with java interior with the deluxe touring package. It's priced really great and has low mileage. I'll be taking a look at it next week (if it's still available, and if all goes well with with me returning the car to stock and I get a decent price for a trade-in, I could possibly be posting new pics
