need help!:radiator problem

my sister's FX 35 shut down on the frwy 2 nights ago. She said the car just sputtered and shut off long enough for her to get to the side of the road. Her temp gauge didn't go up nor were there any smoke from her hood. Glendale Infiniti said she needed a new radiator and hoses and would cost $1800. Does this seem right or fishy? I thiink 1800 is too damn much for a radiator and hoses. And maybe it isn't even her radiator bc she said the temp gauge never went up.

Do you all think that maybe the ecu detected the problem and shut the car down b4 the radiator had a chance to blow? Any help will be helpful

thanks.

Water temp gague starts to climb at around 220-225 which will not really stop if you're really overheating.

Ask the dealership the code that came up that makes them think the radiator was the problem. Which dealership?

Is it out of warranty? I would tell them to not clear the code and take it to another dealer.
