Hey everyone! So I’m in the DMV (DC/MD/Va) area and in process of trying to find a place to fix my curb rashed rims and getting them repainted black. I’ve driven around and got a couple of quotes and the lowest priced places I’ve found quoted me $600. Bit out my price range. I wanted to ask if anybody here knew of any places that could do them cheaper? I was hoping to pay no more than $400-$500 max so any input would be much appreciated. Thanks! Powder coating is also an option but I’ll go with whatever the consensus is!

 

How bad is the rash? Reason for asking is because I picked up a set of g37 wheels that were pretty rashed up and I fixed mostly all of it and repainted them myself. Not to difficult just a little time consuming is all. I'm also in the dmv area as well

 

Also powder coating is the better option but also is the most expensive as well

 

It’s pretty bad...at least in my opinion. If I show you some pics would you be able to tell me if doing it myself is a good option for someone who has never done a project like this before?

Here are the pics! Sorry it took so long, but it’s been a very hectic week. I forgot to mention that the previous owner had them painted and the only reason I know that is cause the paint is chipping in certain spots so not sure if that would change anything in terms of restoring them myself. Thanks for your help!

 

I went to a nissan dealership to do trans fluid drain/fill. My wheels looked pretty much like yours and the sales guy offered to fix them for 300$. I didnt take him up on it cuz i was getting new wheels, so i dunno how the job wouldve been. This is in NYC.

 

It’s really mind blowing to me how much location affects the pricing on getting wheels repaired is. I would assume the dealership would charge me up the *** for getting these repaired. I wonder if for $300 they would also repaint them a different color or how much extra it would be

 

well my new wheels got rashed (valet service)...and after checking around indy shops (i wasnt going to go dealership), the prices were ranging from 150-225 per wheel. 🤷🏻*♂️

 

Mines were just a bad, a little elbow work and you'll be good as new

 

Damn, that does look good. Did you already put them on? Is there a tutorial you followed? I ended up just buying new wheels lol but this probably works out better cause I can just repair them at my own pace.

 

Yeah actually there on the car right now but they aren't bronze anymore. I repainted them a metallic silver. I did use a video for the sanding process. The painting wasn't an issue because I'm used to painting. I'll see if I can find the video.

 

You make it look so easy! Lol i guess my main area of concern is the small wells where the lug nuts sit. Did you have to sand that area too? I feel like that would be a difficult area to hit with the sand paper

 

Yeah prep is key, once you get rid of the rash a red scuff pad will make it easy to hit those smaller areas to ensure proper adhesion for the primer to stick to
