Everything you've said came across as pure ego and not the least bit constructive. You don't like the idea? Purpose something!!!

It's about quality of threads over quantity. Maybe another option is to have all new user threads moderated for xx amount of time or posts. That way they can be 'guided' if need be.
Blnewt are you up to the task?
Of course this can be time consuming too, so any thread without a meaningful title should automatically be deleted.

^^HA! That's assuming I actually click on the thread to read it. Lately, with limited time and attention span many threads have gone unread.
After 4 years, the honeymoon phase is over. Now it's just a 'car'. Hard to get overly excited about it.

Report button? You know, in the last 6 years here, I don't think I've ever reported anyone. (That, or I can't remember it, because old.) Usually all you have to do with people like that is poke them with a stick and let them dig a deeper hole. It's surprisingly easy, and works every time.

As for newbie threads... Thread titles are everything. If a thread title is "New Rims", or there is more than one question mark or exclamation point at the end of a poorly spelled clusterfck of child-like grammar, 99% of the time I ignore it.
Here's a recommendation for moderators: don't be shy about amending thread titles for people.

I think it's better that they out themselves so you know who they are and can avoid them. I will gladly change a thread title if requested by the person who posted it. Typos and mistakes happen. But I'm not inclined to fix lazy or ignorant grammar, syntax, and spelling. I worked hard in school (still do) to not be an idiot (or at least not appear to be one), so should everyone else. I make exception for people asking reasonable questions when English is clearly not their first language.
Other mods may feel different or more sympathetic to the plight of the uneducated. Blnewt is probably a softie.

I say one step better is for mods to just insta-delete threads that are obviously out of line (when they run across them). Terrible grammar/spelling (not just a typo), blatant disregard for searching, etc. I don't see this as unreasonable and applies the same for a new guy and a veteran.

And as BB very explicitly stated, helping newbs with lame thread titles is a bridge too far.Truth be told, I had Brad in mind, not BB. But while I would have certainly worded his opinion differently... I don't necessarily disagree with it.

Sure. But other than forcing someone to gain experience (with 100 posts), any direct intervention creates more work for the moderators. I suspect their spouses already think too much time is spent here.

While we're here, please keep in mind that what moderators do is very limited in scope. If I had the ability to implement some of the changes you all are suggesting that I agree with, it would have already been done. A noob requirement to read the basic rules before being allowed to post. Etc., etc. But only administrators have that power and not all of them. The ones with the ability to do things like that are not here regularly. Unfortunately.

Can't say I ever really connected well with cars. Sure there's a particular excitement in driving a certain vehicle, but the bike really got the adrenaline pumping. Hard to convey the feeling of railing tight corners on an isolated backroad with no traffic. Few cars can beat the power|weight of a bike.
Short of a SC, the car is about as modded as it's going to get. By no means am I bored with it, just not as enthralled as I was before. It's one of the few cars that does almost everything I want it to.
PS. My next mod (if you can call it that) involves new tires. A bit more than $50, or $500
Can a maintenance item be considered a mod.... Hmmmmm.........
