We really need to list all the categories somewhere on the main page. Or so when you click on an actual category name on that main list it takes you to that category. Sorting by category is still leaving some cats out. I have a feeling this is going to lead to more people bumping their threads.. Speaking of which.

Ok. I totally get that people dislike change, understood. Now that's out of the way. Are there things missing? Do we need additional categories for parts, etc, How are things on that end?
This product doesn't arrive with all the nuances for each different forum already installed. It's a matter of me, coming in, taking a look, and hoping to get all the right stuff on my first pass. I'm human, there's bound to be errors.

Please bear with me, and give me a hand to fix them

I think we addressed the category issues the last time around so no need for additional cats.

okay i think ure missing the point here.. i don't think we really care about the search function in the private classified page. The thing is when u enter the revamped private classified page.. EVERY FS threads is in the same page (exhaust, wheels, suspension, batteries, headlights, window wipers, lug nuts.. lol..).

Used to be when we click on private classified, we can see sub-forums like Wheels, Exterior, Interior, bla bla.... and every FS thread is associated with its own sub-forum.. Furthermore, like under Wheels sub-forum, it used to even have sub-catergories like 17", 18", 19", 20".... and each FS thread is placed under their corresponding section accordingly....

The old layout makes browsing for FS items related to what type of item we want, A LOT easier.. I was juz starting to enjoy the old layout and thought the sub-division was brilliant.. and now this crap lol.. major fail IMO (btw i don't refer to the search function, i think it's pretty cool, is the new layout that is big FAIL)

It sounds like one of the main things you all are missing, is the ability to browse threads by category, is this correct?

if so, we can try to implement something like this for you.

DiamondG, the categories you had previously did not automatically carry over to the new system, hence my question

cheers,
robb

yeah there is no continuity or organization w/o the categories. It's just all the FS/WTB threads shoved together. It needs to be broken down by categories like it was before.

The categories are currently there, and searchable. You can choose to view just threads in a certain category right now.

That said, we are going to try and make categories clickable directly from the forum (thread listing) page.

yeah that's what I was talking about the way it was before. Right now (as far as I can tell) the only way to go to a specific category is to use the marketplace search and then pick which category

It was better when it was actually broken down by category, not via search, that's all I'm saying

Ahh give it some time guys, no one really likes change but you have to admit the new classifieds will potentially be better/easier to use. At least you no longer have to open a thread to find a price.

Old forum names are in Admin CP so those are the ones we would want to use. I never cared for seperating the wheel sizes into sub-forums though apparently most prefer it this way. If you were to make the old forums active again like I did the Misc forum, is it going to mess up the new Classifieds?

This is true, but I've listened to your feedback and have tasked the tech team with implementing something that is more graceful to use.

Yes, this is not an option and would break things.

The new Marketplace is going to remain in effect for cars & parts. Non-automotive stuff can remain in the pre-existing sub-forum already in place.
