08 or 09?

OK guys I really need your help with opinions here. As most of you know I totaled my 08 G37S loaded - 4WAS a few weeks ago. I got the insurance check and it is time to buy. Dealer has a Black 08 G37S new on the lot fully loaded with 4was. His first offer was 42,800. BUt the list on a new 09 is 50,000 I know I can do better on both cars but I would have to wait for the 09. I don't need the car over the winter but it would be nice to have it. I already have HFC's and FI CF exhaust in my garage waiting to go on the car. Money is not really the issue but if i did get the 08 i would probally buy the FX50X next year for the wife or a 370 Z might be longer wait if i buy the 09. Basically it comes down to the differance in tranny 7at or 5at. MAn i don't know what to do . What are your thoughts comments. Remember the prices i listed are canadian.

Personally, I don't see any reason to get an 09 if 08s are still available. Is getting washi doorhandles and having your heated seat buttons in a different place really worth that much more money? If anything you can replace those doorhandles for pretty cheap and then is there really any difference? I can see if you are getting an AT or want a convertible or something, but I think the 08 is your best bet. Even if "money isn't an issue," you should still consider money just because getting the 08 is like having an 09 and being handed free money because there is essentially no benefit in getting an 09 imo.

check the manufacturing date on the door, or the Vin s/n for TSB's outstanding. However, maybe a really early unit would have the full voice software for temp control? But that would be a long time for a vehicle to sit around?

Personally I would try to wait and test drive the 7AT. But that is a pretty big difference in price. But if money is not the issue and you don't need the car for the winter I would wait.
At that time if you are not completely sold on the 09 there will probably still be 08s on the lot and the dealer will be coming down even more on the price of the 08s.

well, you get a higher resale value for a later year models. There may also be internal changes we don't know about, like fixing some small issues. Second year models always have better reliability than the first.

I saw the 09 in the auto show over the weekend. It looks the same, feels the same. The white looks identical... I couldn't tell a significant difference for me to want to pay more than 3k for it. If your getting an FX or a Z later, what's the point in getting an 09? I say just grab the 08 and wait for the 09 Z, get it when released.

Yeah that's probably true, but will it be as much higher resale as how much higher you pay for it? If not, at that point it's a matter of determining if all the little fixes are worth the difference. Also if you're considering the 7AT that's a obviously a big deal to think about and test drive I just assumed he was getting a 6MT.

I say it's better to wait out for the 7AT and buy during the spring time.

also, a car just sitting and not moving for a year is horrible......I wouldn't buy that

^^+1. The 7AT would be enough incentive for me to go with an 09.

Get the 09. It's insurance money, and will be easier to unload quicker because of the year advance. You got wads of money anyway, so go for the new one since you've already had the "old" model. Look forward my mang!!
