changing out the leds is a small mod but makes such a big difference to me.

 

I changed out all of mine and the maps still dim slightly, just not as much as before. And as it has been mentioned, the load for LED's is so low that if they stay on slightly, it is not going to drain your battery. It probably is way less of a drain than our clocks are. I noticed that only the lights in my doors are just barely dim all the time.
