another amazing track weekend! got my first run in blue solo and it was awesome. hung with my georgia rx8 buddies who are just like 1 big dysfunctional family. got plenty of instructor rides and progressed well throughout the weekend. took a little time but turn 2 and 5 i have a good run on now. just need to work on my consistency. ryan brought out his sick time attack evo but it was having water temp issues so no crazy runs.
UPDATE: bad news: i need coilovers. good news: i need coilovers lol.
just came from infiniti, had my head tech do an oil change and a thorough inspection. looks like my plowing issues arent just the weight but my springs are too soft - the control arms are bottoming out on the sway bar. this is what killed my end link last time. the new yokohama tires are stickier and the extra traction is being taken out on the car. luckily levin was awesome enough to help me weigh the car so i have my 4 corner weights. i need to call and do some research with race spring manufacturers. hopefully i can get an idea for what rates i need. ive been debating ordering some adjustable bc coils and looks like theres no more debate. just need to figure out the specs and ill be set. its pay now or wait and hurt the car/wear through tires.

engine had less than 200 miles, it was more of a tuning session.

I know that s2k! Thing is sick. Scary part is that the weight balance isn't affected much at all... a s/c or turbo setup will generally weigh more

Woady: What tires were you running? AD08? Advan Sport?
Also, I'll take the Voltex type 3 off you buddy's Evo any day
I see some serious money in that car.<3 the FD... hopefully it made it through the whole day. Out here in so-cal, we take bets on the FDs that show up on which session they'll break down. I had one die less than 20 feet ahead of me and spin out mid-turn my last track day
One of my favorite cars too...
Not to steal your thunder W0ady, but the s2k's POV.

no worries mike. jasons s2k is definitely amazing. whats crazier is he did all the work himself, minus the paint - custom motor mounts, radiator location, etc. the top of the ls1 is slightly lower than the stock motor even. this was the first time he pushed it hard so it definitely has a lot of potential. jim also had his silver s/c s2k out there and it was pretty fast as well. he got bumped from white to black too.
im just running street tires - s.drives. they held up well though. only problem like i mentioned is the front suspension bottoming out and chewing up the tires. i think ive settled on a 12/10kg setup of bc coils to fix that.
ryans evo is so sick, its not even funny. <2800 lbs, >500whp. too bad he was having temp issues but hes replacing some stuff to try and fix it.
wolfgangs fd was pretty cool too. its actually the 2nd track rx7 ive been in. he was my instructor and easily over 50 lol. spat fire on a couple shifts like some of them do.

Wow... bottoming on s-drives is impressive because those are.. um... not very impressive to me.
Looking forward to seeing you on some stiffer springs; you should be able to get quite a bit more lateral G's.

lol ya i cant afford a dedicated track set yet but they do well. most of the damage on that track is from braking on the straight at 120+ to about 80-85 into turn 1. ive always felt a bit of pulsing/jumpiness in the brakes there and i thought it was just the pads/rotors complaining. now i know that its actually the suspension/tires skipping around.
