Thanks to NeverBoneStock for being the first one to crack open the headlight and replacing his with a TSX lense.. here is the same but with an AP1 S2000 headlight lense that my friend put together for me. The S2000 lense(compared to stock) is lacking the ribbed feel to it so it's basically a perfectly clear uniform piece of glass. While we were messing with the insides, we modified the shroud to give a more purplish/blue cutoff line. The cutoff compared to stock is like night and day. Here are the before and after pictures.

^^ Wow that was a great writeup, saved me some time. One thing I have to disagree on is the flickering effect that the OP mentioned will be lacking once this is done. There is definitely a flickering effect present especially if you are driving and hitting raised or dented bumps in the road(like the barely noticable horizontal dividers on the interstates). If anything, there's more flicker than compared to stock. If the light beam hits the eye at the right angle, the light output looks to be an electric purple. I can't fully describe it, just drive in front of a bmw at night and look in your rear review mirror

 

S2001 lenses come with clear lenses I believe? thats why the clear smooth beam iirc..im part of hidplanet.com forums and man some retrofits there are insane! kudos my friend!

Using of S2K lense was brave...at $400 dollars a pair...really shouldve just gone with replicas readily available for $70.

The write up mentions how the flicker will be less because the thickness of the band, so far as the thickness is thin like yours, the flicker remains.



EDIT....I just realized you bought RHD S2K projectors...that really just defeated the purpose of the cutoff, now your headlight beams will be shooting at the oncoming traffic. US cutoff is ___/---- because we drive on the right and Japan is ----\____ because they drive on the left. Point is to have the light away from the other drivers.

 

I have the TSX lenses installed on my car and there is flickering. At first, I thought that something was wrong with the bulb, but when you look into the light, you can see a very strong array of light that is emitted for a second, then kind of mellows out, then you can see the bright light again. Kinda wierd...but I think this is why it flickers. Doesn't bother me too much now, got used to it, but I can say that I did see a difference in light output. The road is way more lite up at night, and the lenses themselves look crazy just looking at them during the day with the lights off. It looks like my car has some kind of crazy eyes.

Took this from the DIY thread. But just wanted to point out some incorrect info. Although the write up is great, a few details are inaccurate for this mod.

1. Yes, but not in this case. This is only true when the actual bulb itself is creating the blue light. The lens is simply a prism and gives the light an "effect" but does nothing to that actual color output, except at the cutoff line. All foreground light and light below the cutoff line will remain the same as stock.

2. This is just completely wrong. The color band IS what creates the purple flicker. This is why stock Infinitis have no flicker, becuase the colorband is pretty much yellow and close to the color of the actual bulb output. This is what gives you a solid looking light with OEM HID. I did a retrofit in my Elantra and did the shield mod. My Elantra has lots of purple flicker and colorband, the G has none.

 

You obviously have no idea what I am talking about....the mod I have done also raises the shield, increasing the color band beyond the center of the cutoff. Hence decreasing the overall output. Second the solid colorband means there is No gradient of colors, thus the "flicker" a quick burst of colors is reduced to a quick hint of purple or whatever color is solid, that is not "flickering" Before you correct me I suggest you go find out who started this mod trend.
