I had a similar thing happen to me in a parking lot last July. Even though my damage was not nearly as bad as yours, the body shop said the only appropriate repair was to replace the bumper. The cost ended up to be $720, paid by the other person’s insurance.

 

^Same thing happened to me. My neighbor backed into my g35 and left a note on the car. He paid with his insurance, but his deductable was 500 dollars..and the repair was like 675 or something like that.

The body shop ordered a new bumper from the dealership, painted it, and put it on for me.

pop it back out, keep the $1000 for some mods.

i live here in orlando, florida and had a big dent in the rear bumper from when i backed into neighbors car.
had the big dent taken out, looks almost brand new for less than
$200. i thought that was very reasonable cost.

I'd say go aftermarket, but there aren't any good-looking full rear bumper replacements yet, are there?

 

..now do the same thing to the other side and you got yourself a unique custom bumper.
