Hello folks. New member here from a suburb of New Orleans. Last month I bought a 2015 Q40 Journey sedan 7AT for my wife, and we have been enjoying it a lot. I found the car at a wholesale lot in Tampa, FL. She is in graphite silver with sand interior, and 104k miles on the clock.
A little background: I'm approaching retirement, and my wife and I aim to simplify our lives. We intend to sell our house, now that the kids are gone and build a small house in the country on some acreage. She has been driving a Porsche Macan, which she enjoyed immensely. But a car that requires me to shell out $2k (minimum) each time it breaks does not fit into out simplified life plans, so we sold it.
We'd been eyeing the Q50s, but after test driving a few, we were less than impressed. The steer-by-wire electric steering provided little feedback, and the turbo 3.0 sounded like a sewing machine (my wife's words). And, in my opinion, the G37/Q40 is simply a better looking car than the Q50, with its swoopy lines and classic long nose. Several cars back my wife had a G35 and she loved it. That steered us to the Q40. I was open to the G37 or the Q40. Just I happened upon the later, and it was a good deal, so I bought it.
I've been lurking on the site for a few weeks now, and I see you have a solid community of good owners and enthusiasts. I am looking to participating and becoming a part of your community. Cheers.
Yea, I did not even know they existed until I started poking around. It's simply a stripped down 37. Does not even have seat memory or parking sonar. But at least it has the NAV package. Since the purchase I've installed a set of Conti Extreme Contacts and replaced all interior lighting with LED. I don't like yellow light.
First, welcome. And congratulations on your new toy.
I would strongly suggest you make yourself aware of the sunroof drain issue that plagues these cars and the potential remedies/ preventive measures. Especially since your region sees considerable rain events. This issue is definitely one of those "ounce of prevention / pound of cure" examples.
Aside from that, I wish you much luck and many happy, safe miles.

Looks like you got yourself a nice clean example. With simple maintenance it should last you a lifetime. For longevity and trouble free driving, I would:
3. Use windshield shield and/or tint windshield to prevent dashboard cracking from sun exposure
4. Wax or coat car to help protect clear coat
5. Keep up with maintenance, these cars don't require much
Damn, you guys are great! I read on myg37 about the sunroof drain issues. Need to jump on that. The coolant connector, need to focus there. Thanks for the warm welcome guys, and the links.
