New G37 Journey Owner

Hello everyone,

I bought an '09 G37 Journey sedan last week as a daily driver, so far I have just been enjoying it and lurking around here reading various topics of interest. I was looking for something reliable, attractive, with some power, and with four doors/room. My wife has an '08 FX35, which I enjoy driving and maintaining, and I've always liked the G series cars so I started hunting for '07-'08 G35 sedans. I randomly got to talking to a gentleman about his '09 G37 and he mentioned he was about to list it for sale, we talked a little more, I thoroughly checked it out and then it was mine.

So about the car, it has just at 115k miles and was very well cared for by the previous two owners, or rather by the local Infiniti dealership it was originally purchased from. The only dealer options it has are a moon roof and a cargo net, but as I'm very used to first and second generation Miatas it has a lot more luxuries than I'm used to, like cupholders that can actually be used! The second owner added a set of wheels that I don't particularly care for but they're round and the tires are new so they'll be fine until I can find something I like. The only real cons with the car are some minor cracking in the driver door's armrest leather and the steering wheel trim is flaking (seems to be common), but both will be easy enough to remedy.

So far I've updated the interior lighting to LED and debadged the trunk of the Infiniti & G37 lettering, leaving the Mt. Fuji badge in place. I also had to remove the dealership lettering, which was made of thin metal letters. They did not come off in any traditional way but a very fine tipped pick and a steady hand had them off quickly and without any paint damage.

I have a very bad habit of putting turbos in things with engines and I'm a huge DIY'er, so I'm going to try to behave with this one and refrain from boost for as long as possible. Aside from changing the wheels at some point I've decided that a set of sways, an exhaust, and maybe an intake will be in the car's near future. The newbie mod list was a great starting point for research, so thanks for that! However, my wife and I are expecting a baby daughter any day now so those mods may have to wait for a bit.

Thanks for having me! And sorry for the long intro!

Because threads are worthless without pictures, here's a picture of the car currently:

And for anyone interested, this is my second gen Miata which finally gets to comfortably rest in the garage after being my daily driver since 2010, it currently is at 176,000 miles:

The engine bay:

And a little bit of fun light painting I did in downtown Atlanta:

Previous to that I built and daily drove a 300whp '95 Miata:
