Sorry. It's a quote from Alice in Wonderland. The whole what oil to use is an often heated topic that takes one down the proverbial rabbit hole, so I thought it was fitting. If you google "G37 0W40 recommendation", there are several threads on the topic.

I take it to mean the oil rabbit hole is like Alice in Wonderland. You can easily get lost there. Ask me how I know.
The theory behind M1 0W-40 is it is a thin 40 weight (13.8 KV), so not much thicker than the top end of 30 weight oils (they end at 12.5 KV), but has a higher HTHS value (High Temp / High Shear) and thus holds up much better to the high temps that VQ37VHR engines create.

.Again, any oil that meets the required spec in the manual (SM, IIRC) and is changed on time will be fine.

i have switched over to royal purples high mileage formula after i found out it existed, im super soaked for it, for its insane cleaning properties and ofc the high mileage additives, running 170k n counting miles

there are better choices if you beat on your car or track it reaching higher oil temps. With higher oil temps it's recommended to go up a grade for protection, its fairly common.
0W40 M1 FS(euro) is an excellent oil and has a lot of factory approvals and at the cost is an amazing value which is why it's recommended a lot.
I'm personally running on Valvoline 5W40 MST cause I bought 100 quarts stupid cheap years ago so got to use it up

As long as you are using a quality oil and it's full you'll probably will never see an oil related failure. Our motors oil temps are not bad until you start beating on it.
