Oil change in first service

Hi,

I bought new G37 sedan and have been using it since 3.5 months. User manual mentions that I need to oil change after 3750 miles/ 3months whichever is earliest. However there is only 2500 miles on my car, so I was wondering if it is good idea to change oil after I hit 3750 miles?

Also what type of oil do people generally put in their G37?

Thanks.

Are we going to start another how long/synthetic vs. dino oil debate?? lol

My thoughts are, you can never change your oil enough and I've always used synthetic (Mobil 1). You'll get answers all across the board regarding this topic so be prepared to make your own decision. Some people still go by the 3K mile rule, some say 10-15K miles. Some will say brand A is crap and you should go with brand B and some will say they've run syn compared to dino, vice versa, and they've never had any problems. In the end, it's your car and at the least, go with factory recommended intervals.

The US manual states 3/3750 or 6/7500, so you should be ok if you change it in one of those schedules for warranty purposes. After the first change @3 months 2200, I decided it was a little crazy. so I went with a hybrid 6 month/3750. I upgraded oil just because I do it myself. I get a better filter and oil for the same price as a conventional change from a dealer/quick lube.

These days, all API oils are good, especially if you follow the severe schedule. Pennzoil products get a lot of love @ BITOG, as does Mobil 1 if you like Synthetic.

If I were to run Conventional, I would go Pennzoil Yellow Bottle. I am personally waiting on the new formulation Pennzoil Ultra (API SN), just because I am an oil freak.

It is all a personal choice, but you wouldn't be going against manufacturer's recommendations in the US if you changed @ 6/7500 or sooner.

Simple and quick answer...there's no need to change it before what the manual says
