Here's a thread that discusses 0W40 vs 5W30 in some detail (justification seems to center around the base oils used): https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...-concerns.html

The theory behind M1 0W-40 is it is a thin 40 weight (13.8 KV), so not much thicker than the top end of 30 weight oils (they end at 12.5 KV), but has a higher HTHS value (High Temp / High Shear) and thus holds up much better to the high temps that VQ37VHR engines create.
just seems odd that you are completely changing the viscosity rate. even if it "close", its literally a whole different genre of specification.
im going to stick on my safe side and keep using RP high mileage 5w-30

Absolutely nothing wrong with that .

Again, any oil that meets the required spec in the manual (SM, IIRC) and is changed on time will be fine.

As long as you are using a quality oil and it's full you'll probably will never see an oil related failure. Our motors oil temps are not bad until you start beating on it.

there are better choices if you beat on your car or track it reaching higher oil temps. With higher oil temps it's recommended to go up a grade for protection, its fairly common.

0W40 M1 FS(euro) is an excellent oil and has a lot of factory approvals and at the cost is an amazing value which is why it's recommended a lot.

I'm personally running on Valvoline 5W40 MST cause I bought 100 quarts stupid cheap years ago so got to use it up . I redline every chance I get

ended up getting the RP HM for about $37.99/jug on jegs with coupon and free shipping. So im pretty happy about that, ik that RP has some great cleaning properties for your upper crank area, ive noticed that MB1 has gone down in its quality, as there has been numerous tests done showing the lack of additives and detergents unlike some of the other leading brands. maybe the 0w40 is different because of its "minimum requirements" under euro spec, but still
