tpms

I bought a 2009 base convertible and had a tire shop tell me 2 stock rear rims were bent. So, naturally I bought something that fit off fb marketplace (rim/tire set nice price) and they came with no tpms. Bought set of 4 tpms off amazon that are supposedly pre-prgrammed link here: and had them installed at local tire shop who asked and I said Yes, they should be pre-programmed tpms light remains on. Don't want to drag my 4 stock rims/wheels back to shop to get originals installed.

You have to get the car to recognize the new TPMS sensors through the OBD II port. I just get a local guy off FB marketplace that mounts tires onto rims who also has a TPMS program service and that is what he does. I have a '13 so it might be slightly different but I would suggest starting there. Pretty sure there is also a DIY TPMS programming thread in this forum that works with pre-09 Gs.

There is no such thing as "pre-programmed" TPMS sensors for these cars. Any replacement sensor- even OEM- WILL have to be synced to the car.

In other words, the BCM (Body Control Module) in the car has to register each TPMS sensor into memory before the idiot light will turn off.

Now, whether these cheap Chinese knockoffs can be synced or not I do not know. Any good tire shop should be able to read the sensors and sync everything in a matter of a few minutes. Some may charge a nominal fee, others may not.

There is a DIY you can try to sync everything yourself. See this thread. Keep in mind it might work or it might not- it is one of those "no harm no foul" deals.
