12 G37xS Brakes
Currently the brakes are Okay but they need replacing within a year i'd think.
Thanks though! will look into all that closer to when i need the brakes!
It looks a little like a Batmobile form a bad late 80's movie IMHO. But if you are planning on making some edits to the car from the way you bought it, then they are plenty of fine examples on this forum of what to do and what not to do. If you plan on driving it in the winter I would suggest to get some winter tires to fully enjoy the Calgary snow and the awd.
Enjoy!!
Enjoy!!
I will use this car as my Daily all year round, first thing im doing is getting it wrapped within a couple weeks, and then i'll maybe post some photos here and ask for more suggestions. But yes i do wanna get winter tires for it in the winter, as winters here in calgary are pretty bad and i dont want to get stuck anywhere haha. I heard Sask has very harsh winters too?
Yes, the usually are. You guys tend to get bigger dumps of snow though. If you are looking for a decent budget friendly set of winter tires/rims I would suggest looking at Facebook Marketplace, you can usually find a pretty decent set for a cheap price rather than buying new.
Just curious as to why you would wrap your car when came from the factory black? I mean black is usually a popular colour for most people.

600 just for the rears? wow thats a lot, i also checked out Rockauto and Partsource. They both have reasonable prices and had the size (355mm and 350mm)

Anyway, if you're new to the platform, definitely keep Z1 Motorsports in mind for G/Z parts.
Looks like the previous owner plastidipped your grille, including the emblem.

And for the wrap, it does look good in black, but i've always wanted to wrap or have one of my cars in purple, i wanted to do wicked purple by 3M but thats discontinued, so now my best bet is midnight purple or deep space. i went for the deep space, should be wrapped in a few days, also, the previous owner treated this car like sh**, there's a couple dents, lots of scratches on one side, all the windows were smashed as well. hence why i got a good deal on it. but it needs some cosmetic work for sure.
Well, 2-piece rotors are a premium upgrade, and although there's a genuine performance consideration, it's not really worth it for a daily driver (IMO). I was just teasing you... clearly you're not going to spend that kind of money on brake rotors.

That would look so much better in gloss. The OEM option is called a Midnight Grille.

Yup, he made a lot of questionable changes/choices on the car. Did not take good care of it that's all i can say haha. but i will.
I wouldn't bother with the Brembos unless you want to track your car. The factory akebono BBK are more than enough stopping power for your daily driver, especially if you are going to be getting some new rotors soon. As for tires sizes, factory tires sizes are always a smart choice but that would be for factory rims, which you do not have. In that case you would need to get tires that fit your rims and fit the look you are going for.
If the OP balked at 2-piece rotors, can't imagine why 6-pot Brembos would be on the table. The OEM Sport Brakes from Akebono are excellent, just get the right pads.
Plus, the calipers look fantastic, compared to most. Unless the previous owner didn't keep them clean... but they look OK in these pics.

Yup, the rims are aftermarket, but i thought they're the car's correct size (19") don't know the exact dimensions of the Wheels but if i get the car's recommended tire size 225/45/R19 Should they fit these Rims?

It doesn't help that the previous owner was a 19 Yr old who put 87 fuel in the car and drove it like it didn't matter,
I've dont most of what needed to be done on it, now after the wrap, the car will be complete and look incredible!
I think he was having the common Akebono/Brembo confusion.
@ZainRz7 there's 3 levels of brake calipers available on this car. The first two are sliding-piston (where you have a bracket that bolts to the hub, and the caliper sits on a pin) and look like 'normal' brake calipers you'd see on most of the cars in a parking lot. The first two types are effectively indistinguishable from the outside.
Then there's the Akebonos, which are cast aluminum monobloc calipers that themselves bolt to the hub over the rotor. The fronts have 4 pistons, the rears 2. This is from what you're describing what you have (look through my build page, I've got some pics of this kind on there relatively recently). These have the 355mm rotors up front. These things are beasts and are very very good brakes for the street and with careful pad and rotor selection the track.
If you want to vary from that, well, I'm sure Brembro makes a kit, but it will cost you about 1/2 what you paid for your car.
There's another option - you can get the calipers (also Akebono IIRC) from a Nissan GT-R, bigger monoblocs, 6 piston in front and I think 4 in the back, and adapters from Z1 to bolt those on. You'd need 20" wheels minimum to clear them and be prepared for sticker shock - each caliper is about $1600 *used* and no one carries remans. It's an idea if you find a wrecked GT-R but otherwise...

Thank you for the detailed explanation. That really helps a lot. Yes i believe i do have the Akebonos. 355 front , 350 rear, I don't need new brakes immediately at all. I believe within the next 6 months, i should. Before winter comes. I dont rip the car at all, or rip it much, I drive very relaxed and dont go too hard on the brakes, So i wouldn't need the Brembo's as they'll cost too much and i won't be making much use of them as well.
