OEM Rotors & Brakes vs EBC Rotors & Brakes

Hello Everyone,

I've researched quite a bit of other threads here, but didn't find something that answered my direct concern, so I'm looking for some help from the G37 community!!

I badly need to change my rotors and brakes (front and back) in my G37x Coupe (no Sports package). I can do the work myself, but I'm unsure of what products to buy.

I can buy the OEM Infiniti parts today from a dealer here in NJ for: $470

OR

EBC Ultimax Slotted Rotors with EBC "RedStuff" Brake pads from Autoanything.com for: $490

Any thoughts on how the EBC ultimax slotted rotors stack up against the OEM?

I don't "track" this car...it's my everyday car, but I like to buy good sport products.

I'm more concerned about quality and performance versus "how it looks." So if the EBC will perform better/longer, etc that's the type of info I need to know. Please let me know if you have any advice.

Thanks,
Hani

another option is to go with a quality OE-replacement part. for instance the Centric Premium rotors are a great option. as are Akebono ProACT pads - they are one of the OE manufacturers. rockauto has great pricing, FYI. a quick check online showed a total cost of ~$300 for pads and rotors front/rear.

you could spend much less if you wanted to look at other options, but i'd recommend sticking to 'daily driver' parts or above. avoid the 'economy' options when it comes to braking parts.

That seems like a pretty good deal on the EBCs and RedStuff pads. The Centric Premiums are a good option, and like canuck said, rockauto has some nice pricing.
KNSbrakes.com is a site vendor and also has nice pkg deals.

Thanks blnewt. I saw in another post (I think) that you had rotors and brakes from brakeperformance.com Do you recommend their products still?

I'd stick with OEM (made in Japan or the US) or EBC (generally made in the UK) vs the OEM equivalent 'made in China rotors', but that's just me.

i was warned about EBC Redstuff pads on another forum, but went ahead and bought them anyway for a previous car.
two months later, i was replacing the practically new rotors because the EBC pads scored the hell out of them.

personally, i'd recommend some Stoptech slotted rotors and Hawk Performance Ceramic pads ... assuming you are street driving, sometimes enthusiastically.

Rotors are rotors for the most part. They warp, get some more. A lot have lifetime warranty.

I had EBC rotors and pads on my G35 and while they did perform better than OEM, their longevity was very poor. I am shopping around for pads and rotors for my G37 and I'm looking at getting a full brake package from concept Z performance. Their packages even include stainless steel lines and brake fluid.

I never had any problems w/ mine, still have the set on the rear but needed 14" rotors for the front and went w/ Centrics up there.

Might take a look at the newer Hawk 5.0 pads, getting great reviews. Unfortunately they don't have applications for some of the other Infiniti brakes but the big Akebonos they do

Sounds like a good choice. Had them in my previous car and had no problems. Their pads are ok with low dust and no squeaking.

Just to close the loop on this thread.

I put the brakes and rotors on this past weekend. No complaints about the set at all. I've put about 1500 miles on since I installed them. Car stops very well, no dust, and no noise. Overall I'm happy. Can't go wrong for the price. I got the cross drilled set for looks.

Hope this helps someone!
